We found CARES through a friend who had rescued their dog from this amazing organization. We found our fur baby on the website and contacted Lisa and started the adoption process. We were impatient but I was so gratified to see that the process is not quick as this rescue takes the time to truly make sure their dogs go to the right home. They required pictures of our home and garden and contact numbers for our vet. We answered questions about our previous dog and our grooming habits and what we used for flea and heartworm treatments. For me this solidified our decision to rescue from CARES - none of their dogs are going anywhere unless it is the right home for them. Alfie is, without question, the best dog we have ever had and it is hard to say who actually rescued who. We are indebted to Lisa and all the staff and I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone who is looking to rescue a dog or cat
9 years ago we adopted our Long Haired Siamese from C.A.R.E.S. a few months later we adopted our Boxer from them as well. We were so pleased with them we adopted a black cat a couple years later.
I spent months looking for the right dog for our family. I found one at CARES and did all the steps and was pre-approved to adopt. We made an apt to meet the dog we fell in love with on line but once we met in person I felt like we just didn’t make a connection. Lisa explain the life of a rescue dog and everything they go through. She said with a little of time he would settle right in because she knew from all of our conversations that he would fit in perfectly. We set up an apt for them to do the home inspection and bring the dog with them. It was truly amazing how we connected once we met again. We adopted our fur baby that day and it was without a doubt the best experience ever. It’s been two years and can’t imagine our lives without him. Thank you Lisa and the whole gang for everything you do.
adopted my dog from them and I couldn't be happier! They were amazing to work with and I met my best friend.
CARES has helped countless animals in so very many ways. They are truly in rescue for ALL the right reasons....the ANIMALS!! If you are looking for your next furry family member or members checking them out is a must.
This is a phenomenal rescue that has helped save the lives of many dogs and cats that wouldn't have gotten a second chance otherwise. They never shy away from the extreme medical cases and even take in those needing compassionate care knowing they may only have days or weeks to live. Every animal that passes through their doors is treated with compassion and love as though they were their own. The dogs and cats are not just placed in any home they are placed in the home best able to accommodate their needs and provide them with a lifetime of love and care. There are many rescues out there and CARES in my opinion is the best there is. If you are looking to add a new family member and can provide a loving, quality home you should check out the great assortment of fur babies they have just waiting for you. Top notch rescue and thankful a few of my fur babies were fortunate enough to be saved by CARES.
Cares rescue has been dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation , care and placement into loving forever homes for countless dogs that suffered, and were abused, neglected, and left with no hope if not for their efforts. I am the happy reciprocate of two such precious dogs!
We lost our beloved Chyna after 16.5 years. Swore no more. Then we come across Cares, and their story and the amazing animals they saved. We fell in love with Katniss. She grew our hearts. After 6 months, she seemed a little lonely-so we looked at Cares again. Lisa has the perfect sister for her, but going through treatments. She didn’t push to have Hailee move out of their care, she wanted to treat her right. 6 weeks later, we completed the family. Katniss and Hailee are in our lives because of the work of this wonderful rescue!!!
2 years ago after loosing our beloved pet of 16 years we found Cares. After being thoroughly vetted and references checked we got adoarble Katniss. Last winter we decided she needed a sibling. Lisa knew the perfect match for Katniss. After waiting for her heart worm treatment Hailee met Katniss. They have been true sisters ever since. Lisa and the wonderful people at Cares are responsible for adding this happiness into our lives. They are the best!!!
Best rescue around! They go above and beyond to save animals from any place or situation they are in. They rescued my dog I rescued from the animal shelter and she was old and needed a quiet warm place to have so when they took her from shelter I did foster her and fell in love with her and they are the most caring and friendly rescue that really cares!❤️
My husband and I went to Cares the first time because our beloved dog had passed away a few months prior. Was highly impressed with the cleanliness and the care I could see all dog were getting. Lisa allowed us to look at any dog we wanted. We picked our Pollie the first time. She is a wonderful dog. About a year later we decided Pollie needed a playmate and drove back to Cares to adopt Marsha.
I would recommend this non profit to everyone. For us it is a drive but so we’ll worth it. We try and make donations whenever we can to help all the dogs that Lisa takes such great care.
Lisa is great and Nicole's pictures get me in trouble. Lol We have adopted two dogs from this rescue. I am always looking at Nicole's pics on fb. That is how we started adopting from Cares. LIsa treats all the dogs as if they are her own. We drive over 2 hours just to adopt from this rescue. The hard work all the volunteers put in shows! We love Cares!
Our family has adopted a total of 5 dogs from CARES and we have never been disappointed in the care given to each one of them prior to them entering our families. Would highly recommend to anyone that this the place to adopt your next family member.
This is by far the Best Rescue I have ever had the please of Volunteering for; Lisa takes on some of the hardest mrdical cases whom no one else would touch and gives them a new lease on life with the best homes she can possibly find for each one. Her Shelter is set up for them to have a loving home environment with lots of care, attention and LOVE, so proud to say I Volunteer and Foster for them!! ❤
We love how clean and organized this rescue is. Every step of the way the process was thorough and professional. We would never go to another place to adopt . We had dealt with many different rescues and without a doubt this is a 5 star rescue.
Great people, great service, great pets! We adopted our Cocker Spaniel from Cares and it was by far the best decision we have made!
We rescued our sweet Stubin from Cares. We were so impressed with Lisa and her love for animals. She has a wonderful facility, and makes the adoption process so easy. It is truly 1st class all the way. Thanks for bringing this sweet little cocker into our lives.
I highly recommend CARES. First off I want to express that Lisa and others at CARES truly love each and every one of the dogs they take in. That is the first thing I noticed when we visited to check on the dog we wanted to take home. They genuinely care for the well being of these dogs. We happened upon CARES purely by chance. My son had begged for a dog for years. My husband and I finally gave in and purchased one from a pet store. My son’s heart was broken when he lost his puppy to Parvo after only getting to spend one night with her. After a month went by, my son was ready to get another dog. He spent days searching online for the perfect dog when he stumbled upon a Basenji mix that CARES just posted that day. CARES is a few hours from our house, but my son was set on this one particular dog. So we inquired immediately and filled out the paperwork and sent in pictures of our house. Then we went to visit the dog to see how well she responded to our family, in particular my son. She immediately went to my son and they have been inseparable ever since. We found out that CARES rescued our dog from a kill shelter the day before she was scheduled to be euthanized. She was only about one years old when we got her. The thought of her being euthanized is incomprehensible. She is such a sweet and loving dog. Absolutely the happiest dog I’ve ever seen. She doesn’t stop wagging her tail. This is the first time we have ever got a dog from a rescue and when we are ready to get another dog it will definitely be from CARES!!! Was a great experience all the way around.
I enjoy rescuing senior dogs and giving them all the love and time I can. Missy was an older cocker that CARES took in when I'm sure other organizations would've questioned the ability to find her a good home. She was with us 6 days before she wagged her tail, and she taught me a lot about perseverance and finding joy in small and new things. And I thank CARES for that opportunity to learn from her and enjoy every minute. Thank you!!
We adopted an older cocker from CARES even tho' she wasn't truly what we were hoping for, but she was so aloof, withdrawn I feared she would never get a home! She had 2 and a half years with us, and her love and affection that came with time was worth every effort. She was truly a great example in how much you can help an older dog, how much love they have to give, and how they can all be saved if we just open our hearts and try!
After the passing of our golden retriever at the tender age of 10, we began to look for another as we found it very difficult to exist without a dog in our home. Coincidentally, I found Community Animal Rescue and Education and Shelter (CARES) when I did a search for golden and golden mixes. I applied as fast as my fingers could fill in the blanks on the application! I was contacted quickly, asked to send pictures of the home and environment where our adoptee would be living. Shortly thereafter, we were asked to give a time frame for the meet and greet. We made those arrangements and brought home our new golden boy, Jaxon that weekend! We needed him and he needed us - a perfect win-win situation! We found CARES to be thorough and selective in their placement of rescues, following the suggestions of their foster homes in terms of best prospects for placement.
Awesome Rescue, CARES tends to take on medical cases that a lot of other rescue tend to avoid. I found this rescue extremely clean and the dogs are all use to a routine which makes them more relaxed and the energy throughout the whole place is so calming.
Had a great experience with the CARES team where we found our Layla. A rescue from the Redlands area. After completing our application, CARES contacted us to arrange a home visit and the rest is history. We are so happy with Layla. She has really come out of her shell and we love having her as part of the family.
Gods angels. They bring light when there is only darknesss for the abandoned and suffering pets that they take in. Dedicated, loving and caring. Unwavering in their mission. Truly a blessing for the little ones in need of help, love and a good loving home.
I adopted my julie Chihuahua in 2014 and welcome the work they do. I volunteered for a short time and the love and care these animals receive is AWESOME AND GENUINE. Wish I lived closer to help more with the adoption venues what a great way to help the community and place pets in fur-ever homes.
As a former volunteer for this great organization, I can vouch for the care and love all these animals receive once they pass through that front door. I have seen so many of them come to life and learn to trust again. The facility is cleaner than any hospital I've ever been in, too! If you volunteer, it's hard not to want to take them all home with you--we didn't take them all, but we did find the cutest 3-month lab/hound mix that someone threw to the roadside. Skipper has become the hub of our family and is a constant joy. Skipper is almost 2 years old now and pushing 80 lbs of love! If you're looking for the best pet to fit your family, then CARES should be at the top of your list! Lisa ALWAYS makes sure her pets go to the right family.
I have been a volunteer and supporter of this organization for almost 2 years now. I fall in love with every dog there, but one in particular pulled at my heartstrings this past December. Yeller had been dumped from a car and had only been at CARES for 2 weeks when I knew I had to have him for my very own. He was renamed Skipper and has made us the happiest fur-ever family in Hernando County. CARES always puts the need if the animal first. It is one lucky cat/dog that ends up in their care!
When I lost the love of my life to cancer, I decided to rescue a dog. However, it was the dog that rescued me.
7 years ago, I came to C.A.R.E.S. just to meet Hemi (then named Corky). I left C.A.R.E.S. with a new best friend and as a new C.A.R.E.S. volunteer. From the moment you walk into C.A.R.E.S. you know the animals are well taken care of and loved. After speaking to Lisa about the rescue, I knew I wanted to be apart of it. I volunteered there for three years (I live out of state now) and in that time I learned so much about dogs and about the importance of animal rescue.
I can not speak highly enough about C.A.R.E.S. Everything they do for these animals is done with love! I have been witness to amazing rescues. I have seen first hand them nurturing a sick animal back to health. C.A.R.E.S. is truly a community rescue as they have also worked with adults with disabilities. They taught them how to interact, take care of and play with dogs.
I will always be grateful to C.A.R.E.S. for teaching and guiding me but most importantly for giving me the best gift of all, Hemi! He is still the lovable grumpy puppy as he was then. He's almost 16 years old but he's still absolutely perfect!! I've included a picture of Hemi on his adoption day and him today.
Cares Rescue is wonderful!! They take such wonderful care of the fur children, in their charge, some of them are in so much need. This care continues until the day that pet is adopted. They will go to all lengths to regain health in all animals they rescue and will continue, as it is needed. We know, because Cares Rescue is where we found our most amazing little fur child, KC. We love Cares Rescue!!
Cares Rescue is the best! We have personally witnessed their compassion and love, for we have adopted one of their amazing and well cared for, rescued dogs. KC would not be with us today, had it not been for their swift response in getting him the help, he so badly needed. Here he sits, on my lab, while I am writing this, fast asleep in his forever home. Thank you so much Cares Rescue, you are absolutely the best and we love KC so much.
I cannot say enough good things about CARES! I adopted my dog from them in March 2016 and it could not have been a better match! They take such good care of the animals in their care, often taking on the cases others would not give a second look. The transformation and happy adoptions I've seen over the past year have been nothing short of devinely inspired. Their love of all the animals in their care is beyond measure. Just an amazing organization!
My husband and I have rescued two dogs from Lisa at CARES. I feel that Lisa gives her dogs so much care and attention. She loves each and every one of them as if they were her own. Both of our dogs are wonderful and were well taken care of by the staff at CARES. I would recommend anyone thinking of adopting to visit this shelter. The dogs there are given a very homey environment until they find their forever home :)
We lost our 9 year old jack Russell "Brady" to cancer a year ago. I was so heart broken I searched for another jack to fill my empty house. I stumbled upon cares rescue and loved everything about it. They researched the new adopters thoroughly and made sure the dogs in their care went to the best suited home for the breed and age. As of august 6 we will have had our sweet Madison a full year. Her is a pic of when we got her that my husband labeled and a picture of her now when she smiles.
I adopted a German Shepard from Community Animal Rescue & Educational Shelter. I could not have had a better experience. Truffles, my dog, turned 16 on July 2, 2017. Truffles was found wandering the streets of Pasco County. She was taken in by CARES and treated for heart worm. Her foster parent, that would be Mommy Diane, would not give her up to just anyone. She turned down other people who wanted to adopt Truffles because they were not the right fit for the dog. We spent many hours with Truffles and Diane to be sure we were the right people to adopt her. Truffles has been with us for 5 years now. Couldn't have asked for a more fabulous dog.
I wrote my story about Truffles in Sept. of 2016. Truffles, our German Shepard adopted from CARES is still with us. She is 15 1/2 years old. Could not have asked for a better experience from any rescue group
We adopted two little girls that were left alone after their human mommy passed away. They were amazing during the adoption process and I have followed them in Facebook ever since. I make a small monthly donation to help out with the amazing work they do though I wish I could do more. God bless Lisa and her team for all that they do!!!
This is such a wonderful organization with people who are really passionate about the animals they care for. I rescued my sweet Leia from CARES and I am eternally grateful for the love she was shown and the treatment she received before we welcomed her into our home. Here she is with her also-rescued sister, Leslie!
Lisa and everyone that volunteers with CARES are amazing!!! We adopted Flash earlier this year. He had been through a tough time before Lisa brought him into her rescue and healed him. We are so lucky to have Flash in our family, and thankful to Lisa and everyone at CARES for the great work they do.
Lisa and Diane are a joy to work with! They are so devoted and so are all the other staff , volunteers and foster families. We adopted our Westie, Toby in 2015, and it was a smooth process and good experience. We love our little rescue!
The work CARES has done with the Redlands dogs in Miami is unbelievable! To save 100+ dogs from a certain death and help them recover and then find loving homes is so amazing! I am happy to donate occasionally and wish I could do more to help out, but I live 2 hours away! Good luck to all of you for a fine job!
Thank you for all your concern, love, efforts and TLC to these sweet animals in need!
All the best, Bonnie Byrne
I live in Ohio and and got Zoey (the cutest dog in the world) from Cares Rescue and she has brought me so much joy. Cares knew I was a first time dog owner and walk me through it step by step. I still reach out if I have questions and they always give me guidance. Class act rescue!
We adopted our dog Pongo from Cares a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. The ladies at Cares are so sweet and professional. They are on top of their site and I was impressed with how quickly they respond. If anyone is looking for a furry family member I would absolutely recommend going through Cares!
CARES is one of the most responsibly run rescues I've ever encountered. CARES encourages visits to their facility, helps the local homeless population take care of their pets needs, saves the lives of abandoned pets inside & outside of their community, takes necessary steps to determine adoption compatibility, and helps educate the public on animal welfare issues. This is a top notch organization that should be a role model for all animal rescues.
I'll never forget going to pickup my rescue baby,Elvis. Brussels Griffon, one eye and blind in that. A couple of snaggle teeth showing. Lisa drove him up to our car in a golf cart. It was love at first sight. Lisa and CARES itself is the BEST! They are always ready too help in any way. They love what they do. They just CARE
My Lucky I had for 14 year's (the best girlfriend ever ) I prayed and looked for 1 1/2 year's for my next best girlfriend. Then I came across my Maggie she was 2 hour's away, but right down the street from where my father lives. CARES RESCUE. ....GOD leading me the whole time. Lisa definitely is a gift from God to ALL DOGS. I have never met someone so passionate and devoted to saving the animals in Florida and surrounding areas. When I picked Maggie up. I was amazed at how clean and organized her rescue was.
We have also adopted a great dog for my Father, what a wonderful companion Sammi is for him. Lisa continues to take care of our pet's with the Vet that she is affiliated with. Anytime I have a problem or questions about my Maggie Lisa is always available to help me. Cares Rescue is without a doubt the best place to start a family.
We have worked with and donated to CARES for years. Lisa and Diane along with a dedicated core group of volunteers have made a tremendous difference for hundreds of shelter and owner turn in animals. They have one of the cleanest shelters I've ever seen. Besides taking in local dogs, they also go out in the community to help rescue those in need. This is what rescue is about.
I adopted my dogs from this organization, they are the most well behaved happy babies. I recommend C.A.R.E.S. to everyone!
I adopted one of my dogs from Lisa & CARES, 8 yrs. ago. Not only does Lisa drive hours and hours to rescue animals in desperate need, but she is so selfless and caring that you can't help but want to be a part of her extended family. Wish I had a million dollars to help them along!
InJan. 2008 I found a dog, online at the Miami Dade shelter that I knew was meant for me. I went down and was told he was sick and unavailable, but CARES had placed a hold on him. (CARES is 5 hours away from Miami.) I contacted Lisa who pulled him from the shelter....took him to CARES and nursed him back to health. I picked up Bo (aka Remy) a month later and he is now an amazing 7 yr. old boxer lying next to me on the sofa, as I type.
I love Cares, they are truly what a rescue is all about..they care for all animals and help others in need. If you need help get in touch with them or adopt a pet from them...They are an awesome rescue group...We did a fundraiser for them last year and it turned out great....
Lisa with CARES and all the wonderful foster families and volunteers do a wonderful job rescuing and finding great forever families for the many dogs and cats they rescue, CARES takes many that others pass by. Awesome job to help save more animals. I am proud to be associated with this caring group.
One of the best Rescues i have encountered! I adopted my dog from Cares 8yrs ago!
My Oscsr & Rugby were saved by CARES. The shelter is warm, homey & safe plus spotless & full of love. CARES is top notch, grade A & a true blessing.
I found a Rottweiller wandering the neighborhood, and Diane came over to check for a chip. CARES listed kittens we fostered on their website, and they found homes. We had a cat in foster that needed surgery, and Diane took him to their vet, who charged us 1/4 what another vet quoted. If I have a question or problem, they are there. CARES really cares about each and every animal.
Like many people, I have walked thru animal shelters, county shelters, private and non profit. Sometimes I leave with a broken heart. CARES, run by two dedicated ladies, Lisa Lewis and Diane Konitz, is different. Waaay different! CARES is the kind of shelter you walk thru and breathe a sigh of relief! These fur babies live in a home atmosphere, where the kitchen has food smells as the volunteers prepare their meals; the washing machine is humming; the TV is on all day, and love and peanut butter bones abound! The yards, with their kiddie pools, are manicured and secure. Much thought has gone into the needs and safety concerns of each yard. This is as close to a "real home" as anyone can get. CARES fur babies are much more adapted to this lifestyle, which makes the transition into their forever home an easy one. CARES is not only helping to save their broken lives, but to get them emotionally ready for a new one! If you ever get a chance to visit this shelter, this awesome rescue, you will sleep better at night, I promise!
CARES co-founders, Lisa and Diane, have helped countless animals over the years. As I have often said, they have hearts bigger than their wallets, but that does not stop them from taking on the most needy dogs. They are also involved with the homeless dogs in our county. I have been fortunate to volunteer for them for several years, and have found that they are relentless in their efforts. My current foster came to us hairless, embedded collar, low thyroid, and one miserable pup. Thru their love and medical care with Dr. Jones, this little girl is now learning trust of humans, something she obviously never had. CARES has changed my life by showing me the true meaning of helping animals. CARES is a small rescue with a big heart.
I adopted a beautiful, well-adjusted Cocker Spaniel, Sailor (formerly Dugan), from CARES about 4 months ago. Lisa & the staff were amazing. Very friendly & helpful. And still supportive to this day. All the dogs were very well cared for & in great health. The facility is like nothing I've experienced before. All customized (inside & out) to meet the needs of the dogs. Extremely clean. When I'm ready for number 3, I will definitely return to adopt from CARES. I highly recommend CARES to anyone looking to add a fur-baby to their family.
I met Lisa at CARES about 5 years ago and was immediately impressed with her concern over each dog. A clean,
homey shelter, kind volunteers. CARES takes dogs that are broken physically and emotionally and puts them back together, time is not an issue, however long it takes. I've taken several of her little guys to Tampa to see an eye specialist and some were able to have cataract surgery and see again. I could go on and on with this review and never cover all the positives aspects of the people who make up the CARES organization.
On my first visit I left with by sweet boy named Benny, a take charge little Silky Terrier. He came right in to my home, claimed the largest dog bed and looked at me and I understood he was home. Benny was a joy to me every day of his life. Subsequently other CARES furbabies came into my life too, each enriching my life.
I tell people; If you're really looking for love, skip Match.com and just go to CARES and find your soulmate and save a wonderful pet who had no future before CARES.
CARES helps so many wonderful animals out of the kill shelters and takes the time to place them in a home that can be a success. Recently, they rescued a large collie/lab mix that would have been euthanized due to crowding at the shelter - he was a wonderful, friendly handsome boy with melting brown eyes. But what was remarkable was that he had a BFF that was a goat. CARES took the time to rescue to goat too and had a wonderful forever family placement waiting for the pair. They are an incredible example of how rescue begins in the community and that funds sent to local rescues go further, faster and save more that most people can imagine. I am both a volunteer and client of CARES and continue to be humbled by their courage and stamina.
I adopted Henry (Pivot) from cares. The staff was awesome to work with and clearly cared very much about Henry and all the other animals there. I am so thankful for the work they do saving and caring for abandoned and/or abuses animals. It is that kind of dedication that shows me there is still good in this world. Without cares, I wouldn't have this wonderful, kind and lovable soul in my life who managed to still a piece of my heart and heal a void that had been present since the passing of my boxer Sienna. Thank you cares for giving back to my family something we thought we would never find or have again! Added bonus: they work very hard with the animals in their care. Henry, even as a youngster, was fully potty trained, crate trained and very well socialized when he came home. You guys are amazing! :)
CARES does such wonderful work, I can't imagine not supporting them. We found our little girl Buttons through CARES and was very thankful for the background check they did on us. They showed they really cared about her and about us being the perfect match. They take in all sizes of pups and cats. We see them at most festivals and adoption events around town. Lots of volunteers loving the animals each time we see them. Thankful for Lisa, Diane and the rest of their crew for caring so much!
Lisa and CARES connected us to our sweet fur babies! We were so impressed at how she and the volunteers ran the facility. They are a caring and professional bunch truly providing a great service! Kudos to CARES for saving so many animals and providing quality accommodations and treatment for animals until they reach their forever homes! I love how thorough Lisa was when we adopted our dogs. Walking us through all the treatments and records they had on them and providing dietary info and advice on vets to use, how often to get vaccinations, etc. I highly recommend this shelter to those looking to adopt or for those looking for a cause to support!
I am forever grateful to CARES for saving my sweet boy, Garth. They are a wonderful organization. Lisa puts so much love and care into all she does. I always say, "look to your dog to judge a person" Lisa & CARES is loved by all. The animals know they are in a place that is safe and they are cared for. CARES is clean and happy. I would recommend CARES to anyone and everyone.
My name is Trish and I love this place, Diane and Lisa are 2 very awesome people. They take so much pride in their Rescue. I got Reno from them around 6 years ago and he is a Vizsla hound. I have volunteered in the past with them. You could not ask for more 2 passionate people that puts their heart and sole into it. Thank you both
Lisa and her team are an amazing group of caring animal lovers. We came upon her rescue at an event and not only did we adopt a sweet puppy, but my sister in law did and then 6 weeks later we adopted another litter mate. Our experience was so wonderful, and her fosters truly want the best for the animals. 4 years after our first adoptions, we immediately thought of CARES when my father and mother in law wanted to adopt a dog to be a companion, the sweet girl they brought home couldn't have been a better fit! CARES is highly recommended by my family, and they are very deserving of this award.
My daughter and I have been volunteering with CARES for the last year. I have a progressing autoimmune disease that limits me physically. Lisa knew this and still encouraged me to volunteer. While I am unable to do any heavy lifting... I am able to help socialize and simply "love on" the animals. I am able to be part of getting them used to being handled so that they are ready to be adopted. The staff at CARES are truly interested in the best interests of the animals. They take in and rehabilitate some of the harder medical cases. These are animals that easily would have been overlooked, and most likely euthanized, at a shelter. They have also taken in animals from puppy mills and hoarding cases that need not only medical attention but social skills, as well. I have fallen in love with dog after dog there. It has been a positive bonding experience for me and my daughter. I cannot say enough positive things about this rescue.
We searched for months to find the perfect pet, when we thought we found one we contacted CARES, we went to visit their rescue(after a very long application process)once we got there we met the little fellow we thought would be perfect for our home, but after much discussion with Lisa she introduced us to our sweet boy-she said he would fit our lifestyle better and she was right. We couldn't imagine our life without him now. Thank you CARES for the wonderful work you do for so many deserving dogs and cats.
CARES has blessed countless animals with a safe haven. Our sweet Oscar the GREAT and Rugby the MAGNIFICINT were saved and healed by this AMAZING group. These two beautiful canines bring joy and delight to our home and to others in our community. I can't say enough about these wonderful folks at CARES! Their devotion to the animals welfare and their tireless efforts are true miracles. Please open your hearts and homes to CARES and lets continue to support their work. Adopt, foster, donate $, goods, time and please keep spreading the word. Share their efforts with everyone..... word of mouth, Facebook, etc. but keep the positive messages going. Bless you Lisa, Diane and ALL the volunteers and of course all the furry critters!
CARES gave my mother a second chance to find a dog whom she can love unconditionally. My parents their beloved Sammy. He was a special dog to us all. After some research, when we knew it was time to adopt another dog, my mother found this organization. They are the real deal. They are truly dedicated to helping take in dpgs that need medical help, emotional help, fostering and loving them and placing them with the right family. They don't just give away the.dogs. They interview the family to make sure its a right fit. Its been almost 2 yrs since my parents adpoted a wonderful little girl named Riley. We couldn't be happier. If it wasn't for CARES, we wouldn't have her in our lives. Thank you very much.
C.A.R.E.S is truly an amazing organization. I volunteered with C.A.R.E.S for a couple years and continue to stay in touch with them now that I have moved out of the area. I do whatever I can for them because I know they are a trusted and reliable shelter. My friends and I give annual donations to this shelter and volunteer/assist in any of their fundraisers when possible. The events they host on a regular basis shows their dedication for supporting the animals they shelter. They provide a clean, loving and caring home for many "fur-kids" waiting to find their forever homes. Overall, I've volunteered with a few shelters and this organization far surpasses the others. They are excellent!
We adopted our little dog Toby from Cares who had rescued him after he had been taken in to a kill shelter by his previous owner. The did surgery on his floating patella and cherry eye. A lot of dogs (and cats) have found forever homes and benefited by their love of dogs and cats either from surgeries, heartworm treatments and everything in between.
I can tell you just how wonderful C.A.R.E.S. is and the positive impact it has had on my life. After my fiancé passed away I decided to adopt a dog. Lisa at C.A.R.E.S. responded quickly to my email. She really listened to the type of dog I was looking for and matched me to the most perfect dog. However, when I went to meet my dog I not only fell in love with him, I fell in love with C.A.R.E.S.!! The rescue is beautiful and very clean. The dogs are on a schedule where lots of play and exercise is given. They are extremely well cared for with baths, grooming, medication, clean and comfy beds and given lots of love and attention. I became a volunteer and even fostered a dog. I learned from Lisa just how many animals are in need. I learned how to take care of dogs on a deeper level. I have personally seen sick, hurt, sad and broken spirited dogs enter the rescue and transform into happy, healthy, loving dogs! C.A.R.E.S. Works with community in so many ways. I will always have a place in my heart for this amazing rescue. They truly are life savers to not only animals but to people to.
We decided in late 2013 we wanted to adopt a 2nd dog. We were always cat people, but adopted our first dog in late 2011. In early 2014, I started looking again. I didn't care if it was a puppy, adult, or special needs. We don't have a fenced yard, so a lot of larger breed dogs would not work for us. We found CARES on Petfinder and saw there was a litter of puppies available in late January. I filled out an application, was approved and drove 50 miles one way for the Meet & greet. We brought our other dog who is large, but submissive. He gave his "approval" and we went home with our border collie mix. Turns out the border collie is mixed with a very large lab as our 8 month old pup weighs over 60 pounds.
Our puppy was from a letter of 8. CARES had brought in the mom from a kill shelter and didn't know she was pregnant. When they were scheduled to do her spay they found out she was expecting. Fortunately they took on the added burden of delivering, vetting and adopting a healthy litter of 8. We are in contact with several of the litter mates families and it's fun to watch them grow. All puppies and mom were adopted quickly.
I follow dozens of rescue groups on Facebook and this group takes on difficult cases and finds homes for them. It was obvious to me that they love their work and the dogs and cats were all well cared for. The facility was clean, organized and adequate for the number of animals.
I recommend this group to anyone wanting to adopt a new furry family member.
