Downingtown East High School is incredibly fortunate to have Communities That Care (CTC) as a committed partner in promoting healthy behaviors and positive mindsets among our students and their families. Through initiatives like the Parent Speaker Series, CTC provides valuable education and resources for parents to help them better understand the impact of current day challenges, like vaping, cyber bullying, and mental health concerns, faced by their children. Furthermore, their support of HYPE (Healthy Youth Positive Energy) club empowers students to lead healthier lifestyles while building leadership skills and a sense of belonging. Additionally, by connecting the school with hospitals, the faith community, law enforcement, healthcare providers, human services, and local government, CTC creates a robust network of care and support. Using evidence-based prevention programs, they demonstrate a deep commitment to the well-being of our students, showing them they are valued and supported both in and out of the classroom.
Community That Cares (CTC) of Downingtown is essential not only for Downingtown but for every community. CTC promotes a healthy lifestyle and helps cultivate the future leaders of tomorrow. Its impact benefits not only the students but also the surrounding communities and businesses. I highly recommend CTC and am very grateful for their contributions to our community.
CTC is an amazing non-profit organization that continues to do great work within the community. I have had the pleasure to work with some of the great men and women of the organization earlier this year at the Snowball Shuffle event in Exton and got to see what they stand for and all they do for the community. A big thank you to all who are involved.
As a parent of teenagers, I love the support that I get from CTC. The monthly parent groups are amazing! There's camaraderie among the parents as we share our parenting successes and challenges. I leave the group with more tips, tricks and resources for my parenting toolbox. The podcast is great too; I always learn something new, which makes me a better parent.
CTC is an amazing non-profit organization that does so much for our community. It provides the Downingtown community with so many helpful resources that make our community stronger. I love the snowball shuffle every year. Mental health is an ongoing topic that needs to be discussed and brought to light in the Downingtown community and CTC does a great job in doing so.
CTC does so much for the community. I look forward to the Snowball Shuffle every year. It's a run for a great cause that isn't stressful, perfect for someone for me who thinks of themselves as a runner but it's questionable. :) They are an asset to the community.
My wife serves on the board of CTC, and I've had an opportunity to witness the passion she and the CTC board members have for the CTC mission and the student and parent communities CTC serves. Prevention works!
I first learned about Communities that Care of Greater Downingtown almost 3 years ago when I started working for United Way of Chester County and quickly became an advocate for the tremendous work they're doing in Downingtown to fill a major gap in mental health and substance abuse prevention programming for teens and their parents. I currently work as a volunteer on one of their committees and help with their annual fundraiser.
CTC of Downingtown provided lots of valuable information to parents all year long! The parents who attended the Parent to Parent groups were so grateful for the support and feedback. They were able to implement new strategies to reduce stress in their lives and the lives of their children.
The dedication of the CTC staff is unparalleled. They are deeply connected to their community, actively listening to parents, educators, and youth to develop programs that address the most pressing needs. They don't wait for unfortunate events to happen; instead, they help fund programs that offer genuine guidance and support proactively throughout the year.
Our community holds the work of the CTC in high regard and has consistently stepped up year after year to provide financial support for the creative programs specifically designed to address the needs of Downingtown youth. The CTC is a trusted partner of the Downingtown Area School District, working closely with DASD administration. The administration understands that academic excellence is just one aspect of a successful school district. By partnering with the CTC, they ensure that the youth of Downingtown have the tools they need to become healthy and successful adults.
In the last several years, we have all seen the tremendous need for mental health resources. CTC of Downingtown has been supporting parents and families for years. They engage youth and provide valuable information and resources for the community such as HYPE clubs and Parent to Parent education programs and much more. As a local psychologist and current board member, I personally know the impact CTC of Downingtown has made for students and their families and it is why I support them.
Now more than ever, it’s vital to have resources for our children. With the variety of instabilities characteristic to our society today, it’s not surprising our kids are struggling with their mental health. The work CTC does to educate parents and promote the healthy development of our youth is vital. The CTC’s ability to coordinate community resources to help address the needs of Downingtown youth is greatly appreciated by all of us who work kids.
As a parent of a child who struggled with mental health, I understand how overwhelmed and isolated parents can feel when trying to support their child. CTC recognizes that engagement with both students and parents is crucial to ensuring both feel supported.
As a board member and employee of one of CTC’s sponsors, I’m always impressed with the volunteers that support CTC’s initiatives. Teens in particular are recognizing the impact of CTC’s programs and supporting these programs through volunteerism.
Communities That Care of Greater Downingtown provides a number of educational opportunities to both adults and children in the community. I have seen first hand the impact that engaged HYPE students can make on their school community! CTC has made efforts to extend outreach further with each speaker, parent program, and podcast.

I only found out about CTC recently. It’s such a great organization. I wish I had access to it when kids were young.
We participated in the snowball race and it was so fun-the s’mores were a great touch! I hope it was a successful fundraiser!
Communities That Care of Greater Downingtown is filled with some of the most passionate people I have ever worked with in the County! They are the definition of a true Coalition, doing such great work in their community as well as helping collaborate with others, even outside their community. I have been connected to so many resources, thanks to them. Keep up the amazing work!

When my kids were in middle and high school, I needed more support than I ever expected. CTC provided a safe space to ask questions, share experiences, and hear from professionals. Information about depression and anxiety in adolescents and addiction helped my family navigate challenging times we never expected- with a positive outcome! Thank you!!
I love the many resources the CTC of Greater Downingtown offers to community members, including frequently updated helpful podcasts and blog articles filled with important topics that effect the downingtown area. The guests and conversations provide real, aplicable advice for how to address difficult topics.
The work that CTC of Greater Downingtown is doing in our community and our school district to support our youth's mental health, as well as providing resources for the parents raising them is invaluable.
This February my organization Let's Bake the World a Better Place raised funds for the CTC. They are a very good non-profit to work with, and supported us throughout the way. They advertised the bake sale we held very efficiently, and drove up our sales. It was a very successful bake sale and is going towards an amazing cause. We are looking forward to working with the CTC again!
