Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: To end the brutality to and killing of the deer In Lakeway, TX. With success, our goal is to help other communities to develop programs for humane treatment of the deer.
Results: The City of Lakeway has agreed for CAFA to pay for a deer population estimate and later surgeries of some of the female deer to lower the population. The deer will remain with their herds, vehicle/deer accidents will drop, and there will be less ingress in to the city from outside deer.
Target demographics: end the "Bait, Trap and Kill" deer management method currently in place.
Direct beneficiaries per year: We are a new 501(c) 3 and are in the process of securing humane treatment of the deer in Lakeway.
