Mission: Children's education alliance of missouri is committed to improving missouri's k-12 education system by advancing education policies that will ensure all children have access to a high quality education now.
Programs: Ceam has spoken to local business and civic organizations, including chambers of commerce, rotary clubs, optimist clubs, church groups and other private associations about the urgent need for improvement to our educational systems and the importance of providing each child with access to a high quality education. In 2014:1) outreach: generated 63,392 automated "robo" calls 6,397 live calls, 1,096 doors knocked, for a total of 70,885. 2) we added 1,834 new pledge-signed supporters to our network. 3) ceam engaged and mobilized 85 new highly engaged supporters in activities like letter writing, providing testimony, and interacting with legislators and the media. 4) a total of 47 media reports included ceam, a key staff member, a parent, or the plaintiff's attorney josh schindler.
ceam financially supported a lawsuit on behalf of 79 students who were being denied educational rights. The judge ruled in favor of the students and the ruling ended up impacting hundreds more students in north st. Louis county.
the parent academy is a program that trains parents in education policy, communication, and grassroots organizing. Parent academy graduates are parents that are engaged in policy change and are equipped to communicate with other parents, school and elected officials and the media to create better education policy state-wide. In 2014, ceam trained 85 more parents in policy and communication.
