Mission: To provide needed services, functions and activities to seniors in this community.
Programs: Specialized health and human services: provided blood pressure clinic (800), computer classes (700); 524 hours of exercise, tai chi and yoga classes, pickleball and walk with ease (3834), medicare counseling, support groups and other miscellaneous services as requested by seniors.
comprehensive senior services: prepared and served congregate meals (11,336) and hot home bound meals (16,071) 5 days a week, including frozen meals for the home bound on weekends. Our meals on wheels program also provides a friendly face and a check on the client to insure that everything is ok. Total of 27,407 meals served.
comprehensive senior community services: provided a gathering place for seniors to congregate during the day, with entertainment such as card and board games (3100), knitting, quilting and conversation (442), respite day care (1048 hours for 11 individuals), aarp driver safety classes (150), caregiver meetings, medical and nutritional awareness talks, and support groups involving seniors (3,400 hours serving over 600 individuals). For seniors who live alone this is often their only social contact. Provided space and equipment for aarp taxaide program where 21 volunteers donated over 3961 hours preparing 853 federal tax returns and assisting 971 taxpayers. Provided a meeting place for community groups and county and state political representatives with over 4000 community members attending these meetings.
