Our cat, Giulietta, jumped out of the window one day and we were desperate to find her. We had no idea what to do. The next day, Kit Lilly, from Charles River Alleycats, had already arrived with trial cameras and a humane trap to help us get her back. Her knowledge of trapping cats was so good, we got Giulietta back by the end of the week, safe and healthy, without a scratch on her! We are so grateful we got her back so quickly and it was all down to Kit and Charles River Alleycats. They really were so generous with their time, expertise, and help. Thank you!
CRA does amazing work!! We fostered and then adopted a big fluffy black kitty from Southie. He is now the love of our life and we couldn't imagine not having him. Thank you CRA for rescuing, treating, TNR and all else that you do to help street kitties have a fighting chance.
Charles River Alley Cats rescued 4 stray kittens and 1 adult female cat from my backyard. I was desperate to get these stray cats help. Not all organizations deal with stray cats but this organization cares for all cats young and old. They are wonderful to work with. Very caring and professional. I would highly recommend them.
So greatful for help from the team at Charles River Alleycats! We had a huge stray/feral cat situation on our hands when we first bought our house. CRA educated us and provided supplies and connections to help us carry out TNRs and adoptions. Amazing network of committed caring people!
The people of CRA don’t just love cats. They are whole-heartedly dedicated to saving cats and making their futures better. Many of them volunteer on their own time, trapping elusive pregnant queens, the last kitten in a litter of 7, or the aggressive unneutered tomcat who is determined to father hundreds of offspring.
They don’t just love cats, they are constantly working towards saving as many cats as they can and making sure that they have the best lives possible, whether they are adopted out through partner shelters or returned to their original colonies.
In January 2012, Charles River Alleycats answered my call about a young feral cat that was following my older cat around, but was elusive. CRA brought down a trap one blustery day and showed me how to use it. When we trapped "AB" CRA returned to pick him up and have him neutered and returned to my neighborhood (event clipping his nails, one front paw actually had 9 nails on it). I tried to keep him indoors, but he was miserable for 4 months. I got him a heated cat house and he lived happily free, but well fed and loved. After Tiggie passed at 18 a few years ago, AB still stayed around, fed twice a day and even let me pat him. I could never thank CRA enough because if AB wasn't neutered, I don't think he would have had such a happy, carefree life. Thank you!
During a financially hard time of my life, a stray kitten started hanging around my back door. I could see that its health was deteriorating - its fur matting, its ribs starting to show - I began sharing my own cat's food with this stray kitten. I did not have enough money to adopt the kitten and take full responsibility for it, but I couldn't abandon it either. Once it began to trust me, I called Charles River Alleycats for help. They were tremendous. They supplied an outdoor house the kitten could use until it was brave enough to come into mine and they took the little guy in and saw to his basic health needs. The volunteer even outdrove a blizzard to get to my home in order to pick the kitten up.
CRA does such great work to manage the cat population. I adopted a cat from them about 7 years ago and I am grateful everyday that CRA rescued her from the streets and gave me the opportunity to bring her into my home.

CRA helped my neighbor and I over a decade and longer ago to trap neuter and return a cat and her kittens who were born under part of my house. The mother cat was fed by my neighbor and after my neighbor moved she got fed at our house twice daily and it was her hangout especially when we were home. She had a great life and she enriched ours every day. During the heatwave this August Shadow vanished and I am sad to say I am sure she has passed because she always came back here. This is an amazing group that has built connections with excellent vets, neighbors, cat lovers and caring citizens. Thank you CRA.
CRA is an amazing organization that works hard to rescue and TNR the cats of Boston and beyond. They often go above and beyond to help lost cats within the community as well. Can't say enough good things about the people and the organization as a whole!
This is an amazing group! I had a colony of feral cats. Jacalyn came to Brockton from RI. Hung around for hours trapping cats. Took them to her own home until she could bring them to the vet to be spayed and neutered. Kept them for a couple of days and then retuned them. She was quick and patient. She came back the next day to trap an injured baby who’s back paw was missing. She got him and took him to get treatment and then he was put into a foster home until he could get the proper care for his leg. She was wonderful. I am so grateful for the work that was done because it was a little overwhelming for me to do on my own. Thank you Charles river!

Charles River Alleycats helped us capture all the feral cats in our colony and spay and neuter them. The volunteers have been so amazing, patient and helpful. We live in a city where so many people don’t spay and neuter it has been a struggle. Just can’t thank them enough for all the help and support❤️
