The Center for Non-Profit “Advancement” is a fraudulent organization. They will take your organization’s money, only assist in running you to the ground, then try to sell you their “help” to build it back up. Anytime staff asked for help they ghosted, but they assisted our board members in figuring out how to terminate all of us without so much as a minute’s warning, despite the fact that we outperformed on every metric. Save your money and your organization.
This is a disaster organization that should be investigated for fraud and misappropriation of funds by the state and federal government. Organizations like the Center for Nonprofit Advancement give nonprofits a bad name.

Capital-gal is out of touch with old information. The Center for Nonprofit Advancement and Maryland Nonprofits have been partnering formally to jointly support nonprofits since 2008. Both organizations have been very successful supporting their members through the recession. The Center's budget and membership have grown through new initiatives with foundations, corporations, government etc. visit nonprofitadvancement.org to see for yourself.
This organization and Maryland Nonprofits have been in a running feud for many years as they compete for suburban members and trainees. So uncooperative and yet they are nonprofits. One example: CNA won't list MD NPs under it local resources directory. And vice versa. Grow up guys! The better solution, merge the two organizations and avoid duplicate overhead. Disappointing too about CNA: they offer virtually no help to projects wanting to become nonprofit corporations. Their services geared for existing groups. So much for innovation or cutting edge utility. Finally, though it is DC and there are many nonprofits here, CNA has become so overlooked or irrelevant that leading nonprofits and funders have instead moved innovative sector programs or projects that would be natural for a CNA-type organization to the Nonprofit Roundtable and other groups. Where is the leadership?
