Mission: We focus investors, companies and cities on taking urgent action to build a truly sustainable economy by measuring and understanding their environmental impact.
Results: Over the past 18 years, we have built the most comprehensive collection of self-reported environmental data in the world. Our network of investor members, representing over $96 trillion in assets, along with large purchasing companies and policy makers around the globe, use our data and insights to make better-informed decisions. Through our offices in the UK, Europe, North America, China, Hong Kong, Brazil, India and Japan, and our network of partners, we have driven unprecedented levels of environmental disclosure, developed award-winning insights that inform investment and policy decisions, and catalyzed action from a large group of leading companies and cities to work to reduce emissions towards a 1.5 degree C pathway.
Target demographics: CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 8,400 companies, 800 cities, 525 investors, and 120 states and regions disclose their environmental impacts on climate change, water security, and forests.
Geographic areas served: Over 90 countries around the world.
Programs: CDP provides a global platform that standardizes new norms in economies all around the world, providing a systematic, step-change method for influencing capital flows across the globe. We move thousands of public and private actors through the stages of our disclosure and scoring process: from disclosure to awareness, to management and finally, to leadership. This approach relies on clear actions being taken by companies, cities, states and regions – from establishing a baseline, to setting a target based on the best science for each sector, to investing in governance and embracing the transition to a net-zero carbon future. Each year we ratchet up ambition in the system, and the more we do so, the more we are scaling new norms and moving mainstream companies along the transition pathway.
