Mission: We are a christian ministry of charity, service and justice dedicated to providing help to those in need, hope to those in despair, and inspiration for others to follow.
Programs: The refugee and immigration services programs provide resettlement and immigration services. The rro program administers the reception and placement (r&p) program through its affiliation with the us conference of catholic bishops/migration and refugee services (usccb/mrs). The ccdoc/rro has resettled more than 15,000 refugees of twenty-seven (27) different nationalities since the beginning of the program in 1975. The immigration services program is recognized by the board of immigration appeals. Our immigration program provided 567 services to 379 clients between three office locations during the 2016-17 fiscal year.
direct assistance program -the direct assistance program provides burial assistance, food assistance, emergency financial assistance, and holiday assistance from our three regional offices in asheville, charlotte, and winston-salem. Services are provided to clients in need regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, gender, religious or political affiliation. In fiscal year 2016-2017, ccdoc provided direct assistance service (financial, holiday, gift card and clothing) to 5,128 unduplicated persons. 13,068 unduplicated persons received emergency food assistance. 94 persons were served through the agency burial assistance program.
catholic charities offers individual, family, premarital, marital, youth in crisis and group counseling. The professional counseling staff provides services that helps clients address their challenges on a cognitive, behavioral and emotional level. These services are offered by offices in the charlotte, western and piedmont triad regions as well as satellite offices in greensboro, nc. In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, counseling services were provided to 334 individuals.
