Carlisle Area Family Life Center is such an important part to so many needy families. It offers diapers, formula, and an abundance of baby items so that women know that someone cares for them and their needs. The Center also provides information about resources available to them in the community as well as giving free ultrasounds. We are all volunteers working there except for two paid staff. It is very rewarding volunteering at this facility because we are helping women and families when they most need it.
I have been a volunteer at CAFLC for almost 2 years now. As a new mom myself, I wanted to find a way to help other moms in my community. I have found an office full of loving and caring women who give of themselves selflessly every day to serve families in need. I have been drawn out of myself and into a world I can't fully understand without personal experience. Our clients often thank us for helping them with supplies or referrals to other local services and yet I thank them for what they have taught me about strength, resilience and hope. It's a joy and honor to be a part of CAFLC and see how they are taking steps each day to create a better world, one family at a time.
I had my first connection with CAFLC while helping in the Octoberfest Fund Raiser. I have never met so many devoted hard working people. They are tireless in their effort to help those who do not have the benefit of basic needs to live. I volunteered for the first time in the center last weekend and was so impressed with the organization and efficiency in which it all ran. When clients came in all focus was on the needs of that family, speaking with respect and real interest in that person. I am so grateful that I have found an organization that I believe in to be involved with.
Carlisle Area Family Life Center (CAFLC) provides not just supplies but support and encouragement to young Mothers and families as well as seasoned parents and Grandparents who need it as well. Always welcoming and uplifting, no one is denied help. They accept donations of supplies (diapers, strollers, cribs, etc.) and clothing (up to size 4T) and eagerly provide it to those in need. The staff is trained and knowledgeable and can refer clients when CAFLC cannot provide what is needed. And confidentiality is upheld.
