Causes: Education, Vocational & Technical Schools
Mission: Our Mission is to provide Careers through Apprentice Sponsorship, where the Students get paid to learn and Small Businesses get employees they could not afford to grow their business.
Results: We were reached our nonprofit vision in May of 2009. In June of 2010 we opened our first office in San Jose California. We opened our Practicum site of Lipstick and Bullets Salon in November 2010. We offered it as a work experience site to the Santa Clara County Ways to Work program in October of 2010. We helped over 10 people a year since then get on the job training. In 2011 we contracted with Work 2 Future a federal program that sends us, and helps fund our apprentice and new educators. January 2012 we signed up and employee our first apprentice Bertha Osuna. She interned for 6 months volunteering when she could. Now she is over one year through the program and has one to go to get her California Cosmetology license. She will complete her training in January 2014. Jennifer designed the Entrepreneur Makeup program also in 2012 and wrote and received the first program grant to the Mountain View Kiwanis which was granted in January 2013. Also in 2012 we started working with the court system where minor offenders could do their community service with us. In addition we open up our doors for high school students to volunteer to get their required volunteer hours to graduate.
Target demographics: Our target demographics in the community is troubled youth, foster children, single mothers or fathers, and divorced individuals starting over.
