Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs
Mission: Capital city intergenerational care, inc. (ccici) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, of first baptist church, 101 s. Wilmington street, raleigh, nc. The mission of ccici is to provide an environment where children and youth, senior citizens and adults receive ongoing services in the same environment and to promote interaction among life-span age groups through planned intergenerational activities.
Programs: Genesis 21st century community learning center served over 60 students after school and over 25 students during summer camp. Genesis transported students from dillard drive, east garner, and north garner middle schools to the genesis center located in the first baptist church, raleigh, family life center and then home at the end of the day. For summer camp students were transported from home to the center and then back home at the end of the program day. After school staff assisted students with homework completion, tutored them in mathematics and reading and provided cultural activities such as visual arts, music, dance, and drama. Students were involved in science learning through volunteerism at a community garden and a nursing home. Parent engagement activities were provided for the parents.
genesis children and youth programs: over 125 different students were served in after school care, summer camp, and year round track out intersession. During after school, staff assisted students with homework completion and tutored them in mathematics and reading. In addition to being tutored in mathematics and reading, students participated in science activities and were exposed to cultural and enrichment activities.
