Mission: Our mission is to help people affected by cancer enhance their health and well-being through participation in a professional program of emotional support, education and hope. All services are offered at no cost to people with cancer and their loved ones.
Programs: All-inclusive programming includes support groups, stress reduction, educational programs and social connections/activities designed to help anyone impacted by cancer. All programs and services provided and hosted by the cancer support community of greater cincinnati and northern kentucky are free of charge. Our generous donors make it possible to strengthen all impacted by cancer through an inclusive community of care. In 2017, csc served more than 3,000 individuals, resulting in 23,642 individual visits. In 2017 there were 216 new orientees that attended the connect to the community program, 4,121 attendees supported the networking groups, 2,899 attendees at our education presentations (informative workshops, art and prevention education), 7,709 attendees at our health and wellness workshops (tai chi, meditation,yoga, zumba, reiki and more), and 115 attendees at our family programs. Csc served 1,906 new individuals (unique) and total service hours by licensed staff or expert faculty was approximately 28,760. Additionally, the location in blue ash had approximately 165 walk-in visits from patients and caregivers in 2017. Cancer support community is committed to enhancing offerings to the community specifically to underserved populations, families and difficult to reach areas of the region. Cancersupportsource (css) is a brief validated research based survey to understand patients and caregivers unique needs and wants and triage to most appropriate support and programs. The individual receives a customized my support care plan. Cancersupportsource survey identies concerns that need to be addressed early on in diagnosis before they become a barrier to care. 2017 total patient / survivor surveys= 139 css caregiver survey april - december 2017 total 2017 = 58 outcome data: decrease in depression by 37% distress decreased by 26% 98% of respondents found css helpful
