Programs: The california biotechnology foundation (cbf) is a statewide organization dedicated to educating and informing key stakeholders about californias biopharma industry and its treatments and landscape. Cbf exists solely to create a more fully informed policy environment. While other entities exist to provide advocacy on behalf of industry, or inform the public and other broad-spectrum audiences about the industry, cbfs goal is to concentrate on educating policymakers, opinion leaders and key influencers about the industry. These accomplishments track with the priorities outlined in cbfs 2017 strategic plan. Worked with governors and lt. Governors staff to encourage participation the 2017 bio conference. Secured go-biz participation at 2017 bio conference including booth at california pavilion. Coordinated a presentation with the california initiative to advance precision medicine (ciapm) during the 2017 bio conference where more than 100 people attended. Sponsoring and attending ciapm conference the week of september 11th which will bring together ~ 200 precision medicine thought leaders, policymakers and stakeholders from diverse disciplines and sectors. At the lt. Governors request prepared a report analyzing the variations and accuracy of the variety of california industry economic impact reports. Built alliance between organizers and phrma and bio representatives to further their educational efforts. Sponsored by the womens alzheimers movement thousands came together in eight cities across the u. S. To learn more about wiping out alzheimers disease, creating one of the only life science teams for this event in any participating city. Gave counsel to organizers of the atlantics innovation pipeline event in san francisco which included pioneers in science who discussed where is the industry is headed and what are the moonshots coming out of california that could change the world of medicine. Continued participation as an active california society biomedical research board memberprovided e-newsletters, social media content, fact sheets and background materials to legislators and administration officials. Promoting california specific industry news to key audiences resulting in more than 1,400+ social shares, and more than 500,000 impressions. Promoting engagement on key issues including cancer awareness month and womens history month. Womens history month alone garnered more than 1,700 combined engagements on facebook including likes, comments, shares, as well as more than 100 new page followers/likes. Coordinated social media campaigns around women in biotech during womens history month, and cancer researchers during cancer research month. Regular email newsletter/update delivered to more than 750 capitol and industry insiders including ca state legislators.
