Building Homes For Heroes is an amazing charity that changes lives one family at a time. Their founder and president is one of the kindest individuals you will ever meet and does not even take a salary himself. Roughly 95% of their donations go back to the families in order to provide mortgage free homes to wounded Veterans. Andy and his amazing team take the time to get to know each family and work with them to give them a beautiful home that fits their needs and is adapted to their particular injury and their family's circumstance. My family is truly blessed to be part of their family and we have personally seen the wonderful life changing things that everyone from Building Homes for Heroes does for the wounded Veterans and their families they have come in contact with. Mission: The organization is strongly committed to building homes and rebuilding lives and supporting the brave men and women who were injured while serving the country during the time of the wars in iraq or afghanistan. Most notable, the organization builds or modifies homes, and gifts them, mortgage-free to veterans and their families. In addition, we provide further support to assist our veterans along their road for recovery, including financial assistance to manage the immense responsibilities of homeownership. We strengthen bonds and camaraderie among veterans and their families during our developing team building programs, and we provide emergency funding for watershed, life-changing moments in the veterans' lives. Beyond gifting homes, we aim to give veterans and their families hope for a much brighter future ahead. It's truly our honor to support the men and women who have loyally and courageously served our country.
Programs: Home award program - building homes for heroes gifted 30 mortgage-free homes in 2017, a sixth consecutive year of record-setting growth and accomplishment. The organization has high hopes of gifting and modifying 35 homes in 2018, equal to more than one home every 11 days.
financial assistance - bhh goes above and beyond to create an environment of financial freedom by providing the new - and sometimes first-time - homeowners with the appropriate advice and guidance needed to maintain home expenses and to plan for a successful future. To achieve that end, we have teamed with certified financial professionals to assist our veterans and guide them through the immense financial burden and help veterans and their families focus on living a happy stress-free life. When emergency, watershed funding is required, the organization steps up to handle special cases. This watershed funding can positively impact a military family during a time of crisis. The financial assistance program has led to an extremely proven track record of home management and success.
team building - an annual team building event hosted by bhh is designed to strengthen bonds and camaraderie among veterans and their families. The conference comprises family fun, inspirational activities, recognizable support and educational programs, giving our veterans the opportunity to reunite with their fellow servicemen and women who have struggled through similar ordeals, which can be a very healing and cathartic experience. The organization has found this program to be tremendously inspiring for our veterans and their families. We have been told by participants that this program helps to fill a void left behind after leaving the military.
