Causes: Boys & Girls Clubs, Children & Youth
Mission: To provide a positive environment, quality programs, and lifelong learning skills for all school-aged youth in clark county with special concern for those coming from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances.
Programs: The clubs provided after school and summer programs and activities to youth who were in grades kindergarten through 12. Progams and activies were offered in five core areas: (1) education and career development, (2) character and leadership development, (3) health and life skills, (4) the arts, and (5) fitness and recreation. The clubs are open monday - friday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm during the school year and from 7:00 am through 6:00 pm during the summer. In keeping with our mission, the membership annual fee to belong to the club was maintained at $30 so all young people can afford to belong.
in partnership with the united states department of agriculture, the club provides free breakfasts, free lunches, and free snacks throughout the summer. Meals were available to both members and non-members who were between 1 and 18 years old. Also, during the school year, free afternoon snacks were served to club members.
students from six different schools were provided transportation services to the clubs afterschool. The member cost for transportation was $30 per year.
