BlueSkies for Children is an extremely valuable early childhood center in Oakland, CA. I have been both a donor and my children have attended the school. The school focuses on providing a nurturing learning environment during the most crucial ages in child development.
Our infant is at Blue Skies, and I feel so lucky. The teachers and staff are very experienced, and the infant transition was really smooth (for both my child and for me). Every week I feel like I learn a nugget about my child and about parenting from the teachers, which is so helpful as a new parent. When I drop off my child at Blue Skies, he is genuinely excited to see his teachers, and is excited to play in the Baby House with all the toys, the fish in the classroom!
The facilities are wonderful (with lot of outdoor space), and at the Baby House they provide diapers at school, and also organic food for the kids.
I highly recommend considering Blue Skies for Children for your childcare needs.
My son started at Blueskies at 9 months and has thrived under their care. As a family of two working parents it is important to us that our son is in a diverse, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment. We have continued to be impressed with the leadership, facilities and general love and care of the Blueskies faculty and staff.
An amazing early childhood education center that is so thoughtful about caring, nurturing and teaching babies, toddlers and young children. I’m so grateful our daughters were able to attend such an amazing place. The school’s focus on tuition assistance for working families needing quality care should be a model for other daycare centers.
We couldn’t love blueskies more. The staff and teachers are warm, smart, and communicative. They take care of everything! Diapers and formula, if needed, is provided for babies. Fresh food is made every day for the kids. The play yard is full of areas to explore. We are so fortunate to have gotten to experience this place.
I've had kids at three different preschools - Blue Skies is by far the best. They really try to make life easier for working parents by being open more weeks than other preschools and by serving an organic lunch and snacks, family style every day. The school also helps parents understand normal child development and has a contract with a therapist to support families and kids if they need it. From what I can tell, the Blue Skies teachers have helped teach my son to be kind to others. Although they are play based and don't have the kids doing tons of worksheets (which I like), my son is excited about kindergarten and is ready for it. Blue Skies also has a music teacher, a dance teacher, and a science teacher who come in and supplement the program. The community of parents is warm and welcoming. And there is outdoor space for all classrooms that they really use.
While our time at Blue Skies for our eldest was short (we moved him here 8 months before he graduated to kindergarten), it's had the biggest impact on his development to date. The staff and teachers at Blue Skies are not only incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, they have this incredible ability to let the kids be kids, to not judge ever, and/but also teach them to hold themselves to a high level of friendship, service and attitude. We will forever be grateful - so incredibly grateful - that our son was able to be part of the Blue Skies family.
