I became a mentor at the age of 16. I'm a adopted child since the age of 9 months old. I'm now 21, employed, in college Major : Criminal justice. BEYOND LIGHT, has been c me though it all. I was struggling as a teen, wanting to know my parents, getting high/etc. They provided therapy, worked c my soical worker and I went out of state to a program and from there it was college. It was all about the man. which I later learned, it was associated c my abandoment issues and co-dependency. THANKS. Upon my return from college, due to funding issues. BEYOND LIGHT was right there. I'm now a Mentor and still apart of the family. Ms.F always told me I be a good youth counselor and look at what my Major is.

Beyond light provides quality mentoring and tutoring services to children living with AIDS and those who living in our child welfare system due to an incarerated parent, exposing them to culture, educational and social events. Instilling morals and values, so that acheiving a better way of life is then possible for them and their families to live by. Addtionally family therapy and community based intervention to ill-adaptive parents,assiting them with skills needed to influence developmental path ways for both parent and child, while stabilzing identity, instructional, structures and values, promoting and addressing on-set educational delays empowering skill-level educational opportunities. I have worked with several mentoring programs, paid and volunteer, but I especially love the spirit of BYL and how involved they are with this population..I have witness the CEO Pay out of pocket to purchase tickets to professional games and plays for both families and mentors, when they were dealing with funding shortage.
