I think there are few causes more selfless than to run a shelter meant for old and sick cats. These cats live here because they aren't wanted by other families because of their ailments or ages. The Best Little Cat House In PA is a safe shelter where these cats live out the rest of their lives comfortably and loved. The place looks like a dream for cats; they have perches, food available everywhere, large spaces so they don't have to interact with other cats if they don't want to. It's hard to figure out what to do with a stray cat you've picked up when it turns out to have a disease like FIV or feline leukemia; places like the Humane Society don't have room to keep many cats, and they're unlikely to get adopted with a pre-existing condition that will shorten their lifespan to just a couple years. But dropping a cat off here is reassuring; you know they'll have a good rest of their life. They even called us a few months after we dropped a cat with feline leukemia off to tell us she had passed away; they didn't need to continue contact with us, but they did, and it meant a lot. I can think of few people I have a greater respect for than the people working at this amazing nonprofit.
