The Beauty Bus Foundation provides a sense of normalcy to patients, their families and caregivers affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. The services they provide bring the gift of lift and beauty that allow individuals to feel beautiful/handsome, empowered, and seen during difficult times.
I've been volunteering with the Beauty Bus for the past few months, and it is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. Every person that sits in my chair has a different story and each one has touched my heart. The patients and their caregivers are always so excited to get a service from us. Seeing a smile from their faces after they get a mini-manicure, a mini-facial, a glitter tattoo, a hand massage, or their hair cut and styled, makes volunteering with the Beauty Bus so worth it. I will be a volunteer for them as long as I'm able because they really do care about their volunteers and the community, it's like a second family.
I started out as a volunteer for The Beauty Bus and was later given the opportunity to join their staff. I didn’t have to think twice about joining this wonderful foundation! As a licensed cosmetologist, I am able to give the gift of a haircut, hand massage and facials to a community who is in need of some TLC. Smiles, laughter & hugs fill the air during our “pop up” salons…..with the question of, ‘when will you be back?’ Absolutely love how Beauty Bus is spreading the gift of uplift!
The time I've spent with Beauty Bus has been nothing short of incredible. The mission to provide beauty services (haircuts, facials, manicures, etc.) to patients and caregivers who can't prioritize that type of self-care is a huge reminder that small actions can have tremendous impact, even in the toughest of times. Their beauty professional volunteers make each event feel like friends getting together and their environment is always so positive and welcoming. It's an incredible organization and I'm lucky to be a part of it!
I was working with Beauty Bus at The Children's Hospital in May this year, delivering haircuts, mini facials, makeup, and nail care to young adult cancer patients, survivors, and their families. Two older girls came over and asked how they could sign up as volunteers. Their story demonstrates the power and impact Beauty Bus has in the community. Five years before, they had both been in the same hospital at age 14/15, fighting leukemia; they remembered the Beauty Bus Pop-Up Salon as a good day amongst many very challenging ones, and now healthy and strong, inspired by their experience and studying to be cosmetologists, they wanted to join Beauty Bus to volunteer and give back. Wow!
Working with Beauty Bus the past five-plus years has been a remarkably fulfilling and rewarding experience. Nothing compares to the genuine delight on the faces of people Beauty Bus lifts out of their healthcare woes temporarily by making them feel like themselves again. A moment of feeling "normal" in the least normal circumstances can have a profound effect on mental health. Beauty Bus brings joy to so many in need.
This incredible charity. provides to their clients palliative care. Beauty Bus furnish professional staff to provide facial massage, make up, haircuts, and imitation tattoos from the very young children to the elders. Beauty Bus's clients receive loving care from our staff and a moment to feel good from whatever medical journey they are taking. A true feel good moment!!
For the past 7 years with the Beauty Bus Foundation, I've witnessed the power of compassion and care transform the lives of so many patients and their caregivers. From young cancer patients glowing after a makeup session, a 90-year-old woman beaming after a manicure, to a new mom leaving a heartfelt voicemail, grateful for the beauty bag that refreshed her after months in the NICU with her baby—Beauty Bus offers so much more than just beauty services. It’s the comforting touch of a friend and the sparkle of a beauty pro that make you feel truly loved and seen.
During the pandemic, their warmth reached doctors and nurses who became caregivers for all of us, reminding them they too deserve care. The Beauty Bus is a true blessing, focusing on the well-being of each person, because there’s something magical about the loving touch of another. I look forward to the day more hospitals embrace this incredible service, so more people can feel the healing power of looking and feeling great. Every beauty service is a moment to be heard, to feel beautiful, and to connect with others in a meaningful way.
I have been a volunteer with the Beauty Bus Foundation since it started fifteen years ago. It iis a fantastic example of how a non-profit can make a meaningful impact. By providing beauty and grooming services to individuals who are homebound or in healthcare settings, they bring not just physical care but also a significant boost to their clients' emotional well-being. These services can be incredibly uplifting, offering a sense of normalcy and self-care that might otherwise be out of reach for those who are dealing with health challenges.
Their work extends beyond the individuals they directly serve, as it also supports caregivers by offering them a bit of respite and a reminder that they too deserve care and attention. The foundation's commitment to spreading beauty and joy in such a thoughtful way truly makes a difference in the lives of many.
Beauty Bus has been a great resource for children, men and women in need of thoughtful grooming and pampering. I’ve been working with Beauty Bus for the past year and it is always an honor and a pleasure to be part of the team. As a hairstylist, I love to give back to the community any way I can and with Beauty Bus, I am able to do that in various pop-up’s and events all through out Los Angeles. I consider Beauty Bus to be the best non-profit because we love to cater to and pamper ALL people, we keep our services within a well organized time frame and team work makes the dream work!
The Beauty Bus organization bring beauty into lives of people who are chronically and terminally ill. It helps the client feel beautiful both inside and out and helps to lift their spirits. It is nice for the client to be touched by people who aren't medical personnel. It helps to make them feel "normal" again. The organization also gives treatments to the caregivers. So many times the caregivers are over looked. Beauty Bus helps to give the caregivers a little needed pampering as well.
Fiscally responsible organization; raises funds and recruits volunteers to provide the lift and gift of beauty to patients and their caregivers. I have volunteered at a Pop Up Salon and attended the organization's fundraiser, Beauty Drive. The services and treatments offered to clients and their caregivers are wonderful -- it was amazing to see the smiles on their faces! All services are provided complimentary, and the numbers don't lie.
Beauty Bus continues to increase the number of clients served and expand their service area, year after year and I always look forward to updates about their on-going impact on the Greater Los Angeles community.
Review from Guidestar
Beauty Bus is a wonderful organization. Those of us who are able bodied and healthy don't realize how much we take for granted simple things like getting a haircut! Beauty Bus provides personal care services to those for whom those trips are incredibly difficult. My friend, Wendy, is one of the co-founders of this organization, and I couldn't be more proud of her or the organization that she helped to create.
