Mission: Beacon group provides work-related, personal and social programs that create opportunities for people with disabilities.
Programs: Tucson rehabilitation: even though beacon group continued to receive less than adequate fees for both supported employment and job development and placement services funded through the rehabilitation services administration, beacon group was able to maintain its state-wide recognized quality of services while continuing to serve a significant number of individuals throughout the fiscal year. A 5% increase in fees from the division of developmental disabilities had a major positive impact by allowing beacon group to hire additional staff members which further ensured the continued provision of those quality services even with a significant increase in the total number of persons served. A total of 900 persons with a wide variety of disabilities were served during 2012-2013, a 6% increase. Over 750 of these individuals received training, employment, or other services within our facilities or at one of over 35 community worksites at local employers with whom beacon group has developed and fostered mutually beneficial business partnerships. The remainder of the individuals served received job development and placement services to assist them in finding and maintaining competitive, integrated jobs within our local community. Through our employment programs, beacon group clients earned $1. 8 million in wages and benefits, a 9% increase. In addition, beacon group placed 154 persons with disabilities into various levels of community employment during the fiscal year.
