Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animal-Related, Animals

Mission: It is our mission to help our community by providing temporary assistance of pet food to families suffering financial hardships, low income seniors, disabled and homeless individuals. We believe that by providing pet food many pets can remain in their current home instead of being turned over to our local animal shelters, or abandoned.

Results: As we enter 2018, we thank each one of our supporters for helping us help others. We look forward to doing even more good work! In 2017 we helped over 950 low or no income families, giving out a total of 81,302 pounds of pet food! Since 2009, the Pantry has distributed over 440,000 pounds of pet food to help feed pets in need. It is our goal to keep pets in the homes and with the families who love them. And we couldn't do it without you.

Target demographics: pets of families in need

Direct beneficiaries per year: hundreds of families providing emergency pet food, over 70000 lbs were distributed in the community

Bakersfield is an area with a broad range of people from the very rich to those with nothing. Bakersfield Pet Pantry is a lifeline for the unfortunate few that can barely feed themselves let alone their pets. This group helps people with no questions asked, just gets their pets fed. It is an all volunteer group with all donations going to feed pets In need. I really don't feel 5 stars is a high enough ranking for a grouplike this that helps keep so many animals alive and with their family.
