Atlanta Workshop Players (AWP) has given my daughter so much. As a lover of theater, AWP has created a safe space for her to grow in this craft. She is surrounded by nothing but love and encouragement - Lynn Stallings (the owner) is the most patient, kind mentor a child actor could ask for. My daughter has gone from a lover of theater to a true performer in a span of just a few years. The other students lift each other up - there is no negativity to speak of. Having that kind of environment is priceless for a teenager. My daughter can't wait to go to her company sessions each week and I can't image our life without Atlanta Workshop Players.

Since moving to Atlanta last year, we anxiously sought a new acting ‘home’ for my daughter, Eleanor. After experiencing many very well regarded alternatives, we knew we had found somewhere special when we arrived at AWP. It offers everything that any enthusiastic performing arts student needs. AWP is a film school and musical theater company and SO much more all in one incredible organization where you’re surrounded by diversity, warmth and respect. The opportunities for growth we’ve experienced are endless and there’s still so much more to learn and encounter. No matter how busy Eleanor’s day has been, attending any program at AWP is always a priority to her. She adores it and has made lots of friends and connections in the industry from her time there. Thank you AWP for all your support, we’re so grateful to have become AWPeeps!

The first time my daughter, who was ten at the time, and I walked into AWP (which was almost by accident since we were quite far from our city but perhaps fate), my instincts told me that I had stepped into somewhere truly special. My instincts were right! We are coming up on two years now that she has been a member of the AWP Theatre Company, which really we should call “theatre family.” She is so comfortable being herself with this group, and definitely a lot of laughing can be heard during their gatherings. The productions at AWP are also top notch, and showcase the talents of the entire group. This is something we very much appreciate coming from other, more competitive theatre environments. My daughter has taken additional on-camera acting classes at AWP and has done an overnight Summer Camp there as well, which have really helped her grow and achieve even more confidence as a performer. Finally, I would like to personally give my gratitude to the owner of AWP, Lynn Stallings who goes out of her way to make sure each kid feels at home and that their voices are heard. What an amazing place! We drive 45 minutes each way to attend classes here and it is well worth it.

We met with Lynn and became part of the AWP family about 3 years ago in 2018. My daughter, then 9, loved theatre and performing but had developed some confidence issues at some other local studios. Within weeks of joining their musical theatre company she had found a loving and supportive environment that she called a second home. What I found unique was that the love and support was not just from the staff, but the environment that they created has promoted a love and support amongst the kids in what in other places would be a competitive environment. Our whole family has created lifelong friendships with the staff and other AWP families. Words can truly not describe the appreciation and gratitude I have for the growth that my daughter has experienced, not just as an actor but also as a human and a friend, at AWP. Since joining the AWP family my daughter has signed with one of the largest talent agencies in Atlanta and booked her dream co-star role. There is no doubt in my mind that she would not have the career she has without the training and support she received at AWP.

Hey! So my little brother Vance was in a play that Ms. Stallings’ directed during the spring semester this year… and we absolutely loved seeing him and the whole production!! So I had to get vance working with ms. Stallings again. So we got him in the VIP camp this summer, and waddayaknow, we loved what came of the camp too! From showing him the behind the scenes of a real movie, to getting him comfortable in front of the camera, to the whole camp environment itself, he loved it and we loved it! Def doing it again! Thanks guys!

My daughter has wanted to be an actress since she could tell us that's what she wanted (about 3 years old) but it was so overwhelming to me I pushed it off as long as possible. After moving we met a family who introduced us to AWP about two years ago. Lynn and Canedy were so welcoming and encouraging that my daughter has thrived there. Lynn has helped me figure out what my daughter needs to be doing along the way and everyone there is so supportive, including the other kids and families. We recently finished the Movie Camp and my daughter went mad the first day because her friend was not able to go but after the first day on the car ride home she talked non-stop about all of her new friends. She had never been so excited to go back to camp and loved every minute of it. We look forward to all of the great classes and opportunities with AWP!

Atlanta Workshop Players is an AMAZING organization! My son learned so much and truly enjoyed every minute. AWP provides a safe environment in which kids not only learn but can try new things and be as creative as they can be. AWP opened my son up to new possibilities and a whole new view on movies, filming, theater and even dance! I would and will recommend Atlanta Workshop Players to anyone interested in the arts. The Atlanta Workshop Players is woven tightly into the tapestry of my life. My journey with Lynn began more than 40 years ago as one of her acting and dance students, learning not just skills to sharpen and strengthen my gifts & talents but life lessons that I still use to this very day. AWP’s encouraging, loving and dynamic environment allows students to explore and express who they are, building confidence and self-awareness in a safe and positive setting. I launched a 20 year career as a working singer/dancer/actor thanks to Lynn and AWP.

This year, life came full circle for me. My youngest daughter started taking virtual classes with AWP, and then attended the summer camp. To say she enjoyed every moment is an understatement! Lynn and her staff go above and beyond in everything they do, making the experience for the students a magical one. AWP is family. It is a place of love, acceptance, hope and incredible training. Blessings abound at the Atlanta Workshop Players!

Oh my goodness, HAPPY 40th Anniversary Atlanta Workshop Players! I'm thrilled that this organization that helped shaped my teen years is still affecting so many wonderful kiddos! I started taking acting lessons when I was about 13 years old in the mid "80's. I grew as a actress , singer, and as a compassionate young lady while attending summer camps, acting classes, performing in the company tour show throughout my teenage years. I even gained experience and professional skills working in AWP as an office assistant in my early adult years. I credit my years with AWP in helping me gain confidence, and believe in myself which in turn allowed me to cope with life's ups and downs in a healthy, professional manner. I've recently returned to AWP Summer Camp as a House Parent and it's amazing to see how this organization is still touching young people's lives in such a profound and positive way. I love being a AWPeep Alumni and cherish the memories and friendships created with such a love filled company.

We became connected with Atlanta Workshop Players during Covid Pandemic. The world shut down and caused a lot of uncertainty in our home as my husband was out of work.
My son's acting coach encouraged me to apply for a scholarship for a virtual movie summer camp. We did and he received some help with the fees so he could participate.
AWP helped us get through the summer..
In the fall, my son took an acting class and strengthened the bonds even more.
Sadly, when my husband found a new job, we were relocated 1000 miles away. It broke our heart to leave behind such a wonderful program.
Luckily, we are now able to travel more and my son just enjoyed the in-person camp with AWP this summer.
He is already making plans for next year's camp!
AWP takes inclusion and diversity seriously which as a mom of a special needs kid means the world to me. He felt included and loved everyday he was a part of camp.

It's hard to find the words to share how amazing Atlanta Workshop Players is. My daughter was introduced to this organization about 6 months ago through one of their virtual workshops. What she has learned through that and the summer movie camp she just attended is more than she (or I) ever dreamed of! These opportunities have opened her eyes to all aspects of the industry. We cannot sing Lynn Stallings (the owner) and all the AWP staff's praises enough for all they have done for our daughter. They have put their heart and soul into these kids and that is all a parent can ask for. We'd recommend this organization to anyone even thinking of getting into this industry!

I began as a student with AWP more than 15 years ago. I was a shy, awkward pre teen who was soon to discover her voice, influence, and true self in an unexpected place.
After participating in a school production in 3rd grade, I told my family I wanted to get involved with acting. That is when I found the dazzling Lynn Stallings, who recommended I join an on camera essentials class. Little did I know I’d be walking into the studio on that first day into something that would change my entire life.
AWP is so much more than a place to practice your craft. It is family. It is home. When I look back on my middle and high school years, I have more memories of the fun I had with AWP than I do with my own school. Through AWP, I found people who would become lifelong friends and learned skills to apply to any field. AWP teaches you so much more than acting - they teach you how to be kind, how to love with your entire heart, and how to leave places and people better than you found them. If our world had more AWP, it would be a much better place.
The true heart of my story comes from later in my high school years. When I was in 11th grade, my family experienced major trauma that left me needing to find a place to live for a little while to heal. Who better to call than the wonderful Stallings family? Lynn, Don, and Ashlyn took me in with open arms. They were a pillar of strength when I needed help standing again. I truly don’t know where I would be today had they not been there to help. Like I said, AWP is family, and family did for family. I am forever grateful.
Today, I am a social worker who’s love for people began due to this organization.

My daughter started at Atlanta Workshop Players with severe anxiety, having been unable to stick at other extra curricular activities due to that anxiety. The atmosphere at Atlanta Workshop Players was immediately and overwhelmingly loving and supportive. The owner, Lynn Stallings, all the staff at AWP and all the other students were extremely welcoming. My daughter has grown in confidence and happiness since starting the classes and I cannot recommend this acting school enough. Lynn ensures that all the kids feel valued and loved and I could not be happier with the school. They are also exceptional in their acting instruction and my daughter has blossomed as an actor under their tutelage.
