Programs: The foundation performs research, education and production of in-depth non-partisan analysis related to issues of public policy in massachusetts. During 2015, programming included in-depth research (including surveys, meetings, consultations with employers and other business, education and political leaders) to update the blueprint for the next century, a plan for economic growth and prosperity for the commonwealth of massachusetts. It is a plan and tool designed to define and measure solutions to the commonwealth's economic challenges in areas such as workforce, business climate, regulation, health insurance and energy costs. One area of particular focus in 2015 was energy/electricity costs. The foundation created and published an electricity calculator designed to give massachusetts businesses the opportunity to review their individual electricity bills to determine how much of those bills were supporting public policy driven programs like support for solar power and other renewable energy, energy efficiency efforts and programs to support low income ratepayers. The calculator was updated several times during the year to reflect changes in utility rate structures within commercial and industrial rate classification.
