scholarships were awarded to 40 students in need of financial aid at community college of denver, community college of aurora and pickens technical center of aurora. Each college financial aid office screens all applicants and refers those who meet specific requirements. The funding includes tuition, student fees and a book allowance.
arts for kids funded art programs at four title 1 denver public elementary schools introducing 1,350 students to programs such as classical music, opera, theater, dance, and storytelling. Assault survivor kits (a. S. K. ) offered new clothing and toiletry bags for 586 victims of rape/sexual assault brought to colorado hospitals that have implemented the sane (sexual assault nurse examiner) program. By supplying packages of clothing for victims, a sense of dignity and self-worth is restored. The chapter currently serves denver health, st. Anthony's (north, lakewood, & porter), and the medical center of aurora. The ald-o bears were handed out by paramedics and given to university of colorado hospital, department of pediatrics radiation oncology to 900 traumatized children in need of comfort. The serves our seniors program provided social activities and companionship that enhanced the quality of life for residents at a local medicaid nursing home (265 recipients). The caps for kids program provided handmade hats and caps/art supplies to 1,500 oncology patients at children's hospital.
