Mission: To provide services, advocacy and education for diverse communities resulting in a healthier and more empowered population seeking good health.
Programs: We help thousands of low income, limited english proficient asian american, native hawaiian, pacific islander, and emerging communities access life saving health care and navigate complex health systems. We are building a culturally competent multi-lingual health workforce by training multi-lingual community members to become qualified medical interpreters with the skills required to interpret in health care settings. This creates economic opportunities for community members and our community benefits from meaningful access to health care. Apca hosted the second asian american pacific islander advocacy day at the capitol. The community learned about policy making and how to engage lawmakers and was able to build relationships with their elected representatives. Building on the work of its arizona diabetes summit, apca launched the asian american diabetes initiative. The aadi educates providers about type 2 diabetes and its prevalence in the aa community. Aadi also educates at-risk community members and helps them access care and information to better manage their condition. Apca with the support of the national council on aging launched its benefits enrollment center to help seniors with medicare access programs that pay for health care, food, and more. Apca help low-income seniors and persons with disabilities find and enroll in all the benefits programs for which they are eligible. We continue to be a strong voice in arizona. Policymakers and government agencies turn to us to better understand the impact of health policies on our communities and we bring community voices and stories to them. Apca convenes and leads cross-cultural coalitions with a common vision to serve and empower communities of color in arizona. We empower our communities and support their advocacy.
