Causes: Education, Literacy, Remedial Reading & Encouragement
Mission: The organization strives to promote literacy by providing children in underserved areas with access to books they otherwise would not have, giving them the chance to advance their academic achievement and the opportunity to discover the sheer pleasure of losing themselves in the pages of a good book. We achieve our mission by raising funds to purchase new children's books and by organizing book drives for the donation of children's books. These books are distributed to these children of all ages via school libraries, pre-k programs, head start, after-school programs, homeless shelters and the like.
Programs: In 2017, approximately 6,400 new children's books were donated directly to students in elementary schools, headstart programs, an after-school program, a pediatric clinic and a high school. A cash donation to the local golden apple foundation was for books for a special program to encourage kids to achieve a college education.
