I am an ACR-REF funding recipient. I work at Boston University as a Junior Faculty member. Funding from the ACR-REF has been tremendous for my career. While funding from federal sources has diminished over the past several years, the ACR-REF has been a beacon of light for young investigators, such as myself. From their support, I have been able to start my career and line of investigation in arthritis, which would have been otherwise stalled. The ACR-REF is a wonderful organization that provides crucial support to young clinician scientists.

After 8 years of disability as a result of Rheumatoid arthritis, three years ago I began to feel great and my rheumatologist suggested that I become involved with WITHIN OUR REACH: FINDING A CURE FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS, a project of the ACR Research and Education Foundation. What an outstanding experience it has been!! The employees of the organization, as well as the many medical doctors and researchers are professional, extremely knowledgeable, and very compassionate--I have 8 artificial joints and get around reasonably well, but they would wait on me hand and foot if I would allow it.
This past November, I attended the annual meeting of the ACR and had the opportunity to learn about the great strides being made to find a cure for RA. It is also good to know that 100% of the donations being made to the WITHIN OUR RESEARCH is used to fund this research.
