This organization is the greatest! We adopted Chloe through them and they were the best to work with.
They go above and beyond in helping to find the right families for each animal.
I rescued a dog one evening. I called almost home
Animal Rescue and they helped me try to find the owners. When we found the owners we called them and they didn’t want her back. They immediately said they would take her in. I told them I would be more than happy to keep her while they tried to find her a forever family. This began my love for volunteering with them as a foster. They truly care about every animal and want to give them nothing but the best.
I adopted Sully, aka: Sweet Baby Angel Face, from Almost Home this year. It was such as easy process and Heather was always available with any questions/concerns I had. Such a great experience to bring him in our home and make sure he was a good fit for everyone, including our other dog. We all fell in love instantly!!
Almost home animal rescue are very professional, friendly, caring and work really hard to find all the fur babies permanent homes! I wish I could do more or adopt more. I adopted my dog through them last month and they were wonderful. No pressure, they want you to have the life friend/family you are looking for!
I adopted Chloe from them in 2016. They were wonderful. This was the first time I adopted an animal through a rescue and it was the best experience. They are so caring & loving and truly want the best homes for their animals. I loved them so much I adopted a second dog Shadow from them in 2017! They are amazing people & they gave me my 2 biggest blessings!
Adopted a kitten and fostered a few cats and dogs through this organization. They truly care and want the best for their animals. They continue to provide support for every one of their animals for the rest of their lives.

I have been volunteering and fostering for Almost Home for about a year now and I love the organization, people and their mission. They always make sure the dogs are taken care of and that they have the best options in life. My foster needed an expensive surgery to live a pain free life and they did not hesitate to get it for her or provide us with support in her therapy. They were hands on with her aftercare and went above and beyond to meet us multiple times a week for her water therapy. It is a true telling to their compassion when they put so much effort into one pup that now gets to play instead of limping to the next soft surface.
Almost Hime Animal Rescue were able to bring me together with my sweet Nina ! I’m forever grateful to them. We are a perfect match! They are the Best!!
Over 4 years ago, i called Almost Home to take in puppies of a female dog that was very feral and Almost Home willing took them into their rescue and found them a loving home. I finally captured the momma dog after a total of 14 months and she has been part of my family since.
I follow their page daily and continue to see the great things they do, from finding loving homes for their rescued dogs, sharing dogs from animal shelters, donating to animal shelters and so much more on a very limited non profit budget.
Almost Home is truly one of the best organizations my wife and I have ever come across. They rescued our dog Chip- who was left for dead at barely 3 weeks old. They nursed him and took such good care of him - if it was not for Almost Home animal Rescue in Fort Worth- Chip would not be a member of our family. Then a few years later- they found Pepper wandering the streets and after talking with Heather we decided to invite her to our house for a trial. Within a day- we realized she was the perfect pal for Chip.
We’ve adopted two amazing dogs from Almost Home. They do a great job of socializing all pets in their care, both with other pets, kids and adults in order to find the best family for them.

OMG, where to start! I’m a repeat adopter with two of the most precious pups that I can’t imagine not having in my life. First and foremost AHR houses the rescue animals in volunteer foster family’s homes so the pets are socialized with adults, children, other dogs and pets so that you get a well adjusted pet to add to your family. AHR also requires a completed application and follows up on the information and does a home visit to ensure the best fit and then a two week foster to adopt trial period, again, to ensure a best fit. The pet is fully vaccinated, chipped and spayed/neutered. Everyone at AHR is friendly, knowledgeable and stay in touch. I recommend AHR to everyone who is looking to expand their family with a furry baby!
I will forever be grateful to Heather and Almost Home Animal Rescue for not passing on my adorable little girl, Prissy. Heather took her into their rescue and we adopted her right away. My nieces drove to meet a transport to pick her up in Iowa. She was a senior, had a few health issues, 4 teeth, two of which were infected so we had those removed. After that, she weighed 2.5 lbs. She did quite well for several months, but her age, and how she had been poorly cared for previously took their toll. We didn't have her quite a year before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She was such a tiny little girl, but left such a huge hole in our hearts. The picture of her sitting on my husband's chest is one of my favorites.
Heather and her crew are exceptional. They go above and beyond to find great homes for dogs and follow up annually to make sure they dogs are in the best home.
I am very inspired by the work of Almost Home Animal Rescue. They are 120% committed to finding a loving and fitting home for each dog in their rescue. I’ve experienced fostering and adopting with Almost Home Animal Rescue and would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you for everything you do for these well deserving animals.
We adopted “Prince (now Cowboy” Easter 2020 after losing our beloved “Derby” .three months earlier. I applied to adopt Prince and received a call from them around noon on Good Friday.
Almost Home’s foster Jo generously offered to deliver Cowboy that afternoon for a 2 week trial.
We immediately fell in love with this little pup and confirmed the adoption shortly afterwards.
We have since adopted a second dog “Dearie” from them. Their foster Sarah was SO flexible holding the pooch through our previously planned travels, just to make it work.
They do whatever they have to do to place so may dogs in there “fur-ever” homes. Thank you Almost Home!
Almost Home Rescue is the most devoted animal rescue! They go above & beyond for their animals. ❤️. Always taking the harder ones that others don't want, giving amazing care while in foster homes & making the adoption process seamless.
We adopted the latest addition to our family, Roo from Almost Home Animal Rescue and it was the best experience! They supported us every step of the way, from helping us pick which puppy from the litter would make the best fit with our older dog to giving us guidance when Roo experienced some health issues a year after her adoption. I really believe in the work they do and I couldn't recommend them more.

Wookie was on a kill list in a local animal shelter. Almost Home was gracious enough to save him and then partner with the Fort Worth Police Department to donate him to the department. Wookie was selected to be a Critical Incident Response K9. These are specially trained dogs designed to assist individuals in mental health crisis. They are like emotional support K9s, but to a higher degree. This past week, Wookie was officially certified and works with an officer to address mental health needs within the department and community.
I have worked with Almost Home Rescue for years. They have helped so many wonderful animals and deserve any help they can get
This organization cares for its foster animals as if they were their own pets! I was fortunate to meet them at a community event and learned they had a mix-breed puppy that was part of a larger litter that needed a permanent home. We decided to foster-to-adopt "Augustus Gloop" and see how he would work out. Normal puppy behavior and training aside, he worked out great! Almost Home Rescue does a great job of vetting parents and providing a good home for the animals while they wait to find their forever home.
Almost Home Rescue is an amazing animal rescue. They all really kind, animal-loving group of people. They foster, train, and care for the animals. And get them in the best mental and physical state so they can be adopted. They've done so much for my dog. And helped get my dogs sister adopted! She was a tough case and they did everything to get her healthy and ready to be adopted. And now she's in a loving home. They really truly are amazing.
Absolutely amazing people. The work they did with my baby girl I adopted from them was absolutely amazing. She is the most loving, well behaved dog I have ever had. It was a perfect fit and she is my baby.
We applied to adopt a sweet dog that they had listed on their site. Unlike other rescues, they were very prompt in regards to contacting potential adopting families. Heather reached out to ask me more information and to clarify a few things on my application. Although we ultimately weren’t chosen for the dog we applied for, we took great pride in knowing that they thoroughly review, screen, and engage with their applicants. I am so grateful to have come across them and I admire the hard work, dedication and selflessness that they pour into each and every animal that they rescue. We will continue our journey with Almost Home.
Almost Home has been an amazing rescue for our family. All of the volunteers have been friendly and great with communication. We rescued one of their puppies; they allowed us to foster-to-adopt to make sure it was the best fit for us humans and the puppy. Additionally, the puppy was fully vetted and they were very communicative about expectations. We had a great experience!
Almost Home is such a reputable rescue and puts their heart and souls into the animals they rescue! We rescued both our pups, Lucy and Duke from there. They truly care about putting the animals in homes where they will thrive.
Almost Home Animal Rescue is an incredible organization. They do a wonderful job saving dogs and cats and helping these animals find their perfect families!
They stick by the animals they’ve helped no matter what! They don’t cut corners and rally for the under dogs, the over looked and last picked dogs in the euthanasia line ups at shelters. They set the dogs up for success in life, it’s about the quality of life for those they’ve saved.
We adopted a dog, Vinny, from Almost Home about 2 years ago. They made it incredibly easy for us, Vinny was coming off a heartworm treatment but they were super up front with us about everything. The most incredible thing, Vinny was dumped, but when he got here to be in his furever home, he was crate trained and completely housebroken. Truly, we can’t say enough amazing things about Almost Home. Turns out that Vinny was the perfect piece we didn’t know was missing for our family!
Almost homes animal rescue deserve 100 stars. The love, passion and dedication for the animals is so much.
I highly recommend adopting a new family member from Almost Home Animal Rescue. We adopted our sweet Nicki from this rescue and have nothing but fabulous things to say about our experience. Nicki was 2 months old when we were able to take her home and we officially adopted her at 4 months old after she was spayed and given her final shots. She is now 10 months old and doing extremely well! I attribute her sweet and playful demeanor to her amazing foster family. She was showered with love and attention while there. Her foster mom had to bottle feed her and her 2 sisters when their mom unexpectedly passed away when they were very young.
Additionally, her foster mom went above and beyond to make sure we were able to take Nicki home when she was 8 weeks old. During the great snow/ice storm of February 2021 her foster mom found a vet who would administer her required shots for us to take her home. Our niece and nephew were in town from New York to meet Nicki and she ensured we would be able to take her home. We can’t thank Almost Home Animal Rescue enough for such a smooth adoption process and providing us with our baby girl! We love her to pieces and forever indebted to this rescue for giving us the greatest gift we could have ever asked for!
This won’t be your average review, as we weren’t able to adopt from Almost Home. We fell in love with a pup with this rescue, applied, and were approved for a trial visit. Heather brought “Scout” to visit, and we were so sure he was the one! Unfortunately, our youngest child has terrible anxiety, and by the next morning, we knew it was not going to be fair to either the pup or our son to go through with the adoption. I was mortified and so sad about having to contact the rescue and take Scout back. As frustrating as that must have been to the rescue group, as they had taken the time to go through applications, come visit and interview, etc., Heather was gracious and kind. She understood my situation, and most importantly, she wanted what was best for my family and the dog. Her compassion speaks volumes, and I hope that some day in the future we’ll be able to consider adding a dog to our home. Here’s a picture of the sweet boy that came to visit.
Almost Home Animal Rescue is Amazing! We love our Charlie girl so much!! She is definitely my baby and I could not imagine life without her! Hard to believe she us nearly a year old.
Rebecca Lee did such an awesome job fostering Charlie and her sisters it hard circumstances. I will be forever grateful to her for loving my baby!
I have fostered and volunteered for this rescue for about 2 years. They are incredibly organized, which makes being able to help out much easier. They take wonderful care of their dogs and help out in the community with scanning lost dogs, helping with medical care for owners that need help, and so much more. I am grateful to have such a wonderful organization in the community.
We adopted our sweet Daisy from Almost Home. She is the best and we’re crazy about her! We’re so glad Almost Home saved her.
I have adopted puppy as well as a senior dog from this organization. They are incredible, but most importantly take considerable time when selecting the perfect owners for their rescued fur babies. We are now life long supporters of this amazing charity!
We discovered Almost Home Animal Rescue when we were looking to adopt a new dog. They had rescued Bean, a tiny 6 pound Chiweenie. When they found him he was abandoned and in really bad shape including being heart worm positive. They nursed him back to health including the heart worm treatment that was really hard on him. We are so grateful for everything they did for Bean!
During the adoption process they were helpful and knowledgeable and happy to give us advice when we reached out with questions. We also love that they do regular check-ins on the animals that they rescue and find fur-ever homes for.
We liked our experience so much that we just adopted our second dog with them, Nori.
They do amazing work caring for sweet animals that need care, nurturing, patience and love. We are happy to donate to their non-profit and are very grateful for the generous and compassionate work that they do!
