Mission: The purpose of the organization is to foster creative expression, recognize outstanding artistic achievements by secondary students and to provide inspiration and validation for the next generation of artists and writers.
Programs: Scholarships and awards:the alliance manages an academic award program that presents $10,000 scholarships to 16 seniors and academic awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to approximately 117 students and their teachers for accomplishments ranging from "best in show" to best poetry. We also manage a network of more than 60 colleges and universities to leverage more then $10,000,000 in scholarship opportunities for students, $5,000,000 at the national level and an additional $5,000,000 at the regional level. Winning student works are published in a catalog and writing anthology.
student art exhibitions:through a national program of exhibitions at museums, libraries and arts centers the alliance creates opportunities to showcase award-winning student writing and artwork while also generating attendance for our partner organizations. Students gain the exposure of having their work shown to audiences throughout the country, and we generate media coverage that is beneficial to the students in the college-application process.
publications:the alliance publishes the works of current year student winners in the national catalog, best teen writing, national student poets chapbook plus other publications.
