Professionally conducted organization on a mission to benefit all through education of the public as well as educators in the outdoor education field.
Even before I became a member of AEOE, I discovered their online job board and found it an incredible resource for finding jobs in my field! I started attending conferences when I got my first job in Outdoor Education 3 years ago and I have not missed one since ! I always come back to work feeling refreshed and inspired, with a pocket full of new ideas to apply to my teaching.
This year, AEOE is still offering virtual conferences and professional development opportunities which is a testament to their dedication to the field of outdoor education! AEOE is run by a group of educators (most of whom are volunteers) who are passionate about the positive impact being outdoors has on youth. I appreciate AEOE for uniting passionate, like-minded people all over the state of California to move forward in our field.
I have participated in training events at AEOE conferences. They have greatly enhanced my teaching practices.
AEOE is an amazing outdoor educator resource. They are a networking source for educators to learn, grow and reach out to one another. Through their website I was able to learn how to be a better educator as well as find job opportunities. If anyone is attempting to work on being a better educator weather it is science, in-classroom or project based learning, this organization is for you!
AEOE is top notch! The small but scrappy organization plays an essential role in California by supporting dozens of other nonprofit outdoor education programs and their staff. Literally hundereds of naturalists and other educators! AEOE has been a leader in the field offering high quality professional development, programs, conferences, networking, a job board and in 2020 offering a California environmental educator certification program. I'm looking forward to their next big conference once this world gets back to normal.
AEOE is an outstanding organization that connects outdoor educators, promotes the sharing of best practices, and encourages environmental literacy and nature appreciation. AEOE helps budding naturalists learn new skills, while keeping veteran outdoor educators up-to-date on best practices. I have been a member for over two decades - I doubt I would still be an outdoor educator if it weren't for the AEOE conferences and community.
I have been a member and volunteered with AEOE for the past 9 years. It's been a wonderful organization to network, collaborate and learn from colleagues in the environmental education field. AEOE provides a plethora of professional development and networking events that I have found critical to my success and career development. Any educator (not just nonformal educators) and any organizations serving youth or those connecting people to the outdoors should consider joining this amazing community! I can't speak highly enough of this organization and its mission!
As an outdoor educator I have found tremendous value in the professional growth opportunities provided by AEOE. The best I have gotten in my 17 year career (even surpasses my own employers trainings!)
When I came to California, I was looking for an organization, a community, that was similar to what I had in other states before moving. I was so excited when I found AEOE and even more excited once I got involved. It's an uplifting, community-creating, self-assessing, always growing organization that does a great job supporting the outdoor and environmental education field. That's what led me to getting more involved by volunteering in several capacities.
AEOE does great work to develop environmental educators, naturalists, and classroom teachers! For years they've been offering in-person conferences, and this year they've added remote learning. I've attended 5+ trainings/conferences put on by them, and have always been impressed. I then joined the board because of their great programs, and now work to advance their mission impact to more and more practitioners.
