I became acquainted with Adopt-A-Pet as an adopter of a kitten. I liked the way they handled her adoption and the way she had been cared for while awaiting adoption. After getting a newsletter I decided to do what I could to help these homeless animals myself. I have volunteered for almost five years with them as a foster mom, adoption counselor, at pet shows, and fundraisers. I enjoy spending time with the other volunteers as they are like-minded with me in doing what they can to facilitate adoptions. It is very rewarding to know that my efforts have helped some pets find a new home.

Adopt-A-Pet, Inc. is honestly a fantastic organization! It’s all volunteer-based and each and every penny that is donated goes straight to the animal’s welfare. Many of the volunteers have full-time jobs and still take time out of their busy lives to help out these innocent animals in any way they can. AAP is a no-kill organization helping all animals, regardless of where they came from and strives in every way possible to find a warm and loving furever home for each and every one. I am truly proud to represent Adopt-A-Pet as a volunteer.

I got involved with Adopt-A-Pet about year and half ago as a foster parent. This organization truly cares about the welfare of animals and all the activities are organized around saving lives. There are so many animals that need to be adopted and so many that are killed b/u they are not wanted and have no homes. Many of the volunteers spend countless hours and their own money to make a small difference in the lives of animals. Everybody involved in the organization works together to make things happen -- adoption shows; adoption counseling; volunteering and fostering. For the length of the time that I have been involved with Adopt-A-Pet, I have only seen how truly engaged and caring the volunteers are to help homeless cats and dogs. What I also like in particular is that the organization in selects animals that are most adoptable, which is a very efficient and practical way of having successful adoptions. Please consider donating to this very worthy cause.

Its hard to believe there are so many cats and dogs who are homeless, need love, care and a home of their own. But...its true. Adopt A Pet Aniimal Shelter rescues these very needy animals and finds loving homes for them to live out their lives. All the volunteers are just that....they give their time, energy, food, homes and often money to rescue the animals that need help. I believe its our passion and all of us at AAP do whatever we can to support and care for these most wonderful animals. The AAP volunteers deserve more then they expect or receive and their ONLY goal is to help. Their reward is seeing that look on an animals face when he/she is loved and cared for! Bravo to ADOPT A PET FOR ALL THEY DO!

Adopt a Pet (http://www.adoptapet-il.org) is an awesome organization. They help save as many homeless and abandoned cats and dogs as possible every year. I know they are passionate about animals and I am proud to be involved with them. They also depend on volunteers. I am one and try to help in many ways. For example, as a volunteer foster family, we have opened up our home to care for several dogs and cats that did get a forever family and forever home. Not only myself, but all the fosters give a loving, caring temporary home until their forever home and family come along. We take the time to insure the dog or cat is loved everyday, gets attention, kisses, hugs, training, whatever is needed and we insure they receive unconditional love in preparation for their forever family. Not only have I personally helped volunteer as a foster parent and helped with fundraising events, but have also adopted 4 dogs and 7 cats from them over the last 19 years. I encourage anyone who loves animals to take a look at their website and open your heart and home to a loving forever furry friend. I did and could not be happier. :)

Adopt A Pet Inc is an incredible organization! Not only have they found thousands of homeless dogs and cats loving family homes but they have also helped a pet store change its business model to adoption. The impact this organization has had on so many familes and animals is life changing! I am proud to know them.

Adopt-A-Pet is a great organization that uses foster homes to maintain and develop pet socialization and improve individual pets' challenges so that they will have the best chance of succeeding in their next home. They also make great use of volunteers' skills and varying amounts of time available for volunteer activities. Since 2002, at different times, I have picked up phone messages, worked on documents, walked dogs boarded in vet clinics as they recovered, fostered, worked adoption shows, helped build July 4th floats, distributed newsletters, stuffed envelopes, and brought a daycare and boarding facility into the foster-home fold. I also adopted my dog from AAP.

Adopt A Pet is a wonderful animal rescue organization.
They have helped thousands of homeless pets find good forever homes. I continue to be impressed by Adopt A Pet's sacrifices and efforts, Sadly much of their work goes unnoticed.
Adopt A Pet is absolutely a remarkable agency with hard working professional volunteers and they certainly deserve recognition for all of their good works in helping homeless animals.
I want to point out that Randy, Adopt A Pet's President and her volunteers are very dedicated and they work very hard to help homeless pets. With an approximate 8 million dogs and cats being euthanized annually, Adopt A Pet is doing more than their share as a rescue agency. I am proud to continue to be able send homeless pets to Adopt A Pet and I am thankful I met Adopt A Pet in the early 90's. Thank you Adopt A Pet You guys are awesome!

We have worked with a number of animal rescue agencies and found Adopt a Pet-il to be the best organization in taking care of the animals, matching pets with new forever homes and providing follow up after each adoption. The organization is extremely well managed by Randy who ensures the pets are well provided for and volunteers are trained There is a great partnership with Willmette Pet Shop where some animals are kept to meet potential adopters. Volunteers keep other animals in their homes to help in their transistion. Adopt a Pet has a number of volunteer opportunities to allow people to help where they can ( fostering, transporting, taking pictures for the website, helping at adoption fairs). There is also a great website that is always up to date with photos and information about the animals.

What a wonderful organization! I adopted a fabulous dog from a very loving foster home. The dog had never had a home before, but the Adopt-a-Pet foster parent really worked with the dog to make it people friendly and perfect for adoption. He is now the star of the neighborhood! Their knowledge and instinct was amazing. If you are looking for a new menber of the family, this is the place to contact.

I've really enjoyed volunteering with Adopt-A-Pet for the past 5 years. Adopt-A-Pet really is the volunteers. There is so much to do, with organizing events and transporting animals to vets, and connecting with prospective adopters. All of it is done by caring, giving volunteers and of course none of what we do would be cohesive without our glue, Randy, who keeps us all on the same page. The rescue cats and dogs that find homes through Adopt-A-Pet are really the luckiest.

offer unique opportunity to find homes for pets as they live in a specially selected homes with a family and other pets . this way adopters can find out how pets get along with people, kids and other animals vs pets living in a cage and no human interaction.people who want to adopt a pet are put thru a thoughtful interview to make sure the pet gets a good home to live in.

I first heard of Adopt A Pet when I had just moved to Chicago and wanted to help animal rescue. I started fostering cats in my apartment. It was a fantastic experience and I grew to appreciate and admire the Adopt A Pet volunteers. Eventually, I stopped fostering cats because of the demands of my job but I still attend all fundraisers. I personally know the woman whose mother started the charity and I think she is a lovely person, very dedicated to animals. Adopt A Pet helps homeless dogs and cats who have nowhere else to go.

Adopt A Pet is comprised of a group of hard working, caring animal lovers who volunteer their time to save the lives of cats and dogs in need of homes. It is our goal to match perfect pets with perfect individuals or families, thereby enriching humans' lives while finding forever homes for the animals. It is gratifying to know that we've participated in countless happy endings. We receive many letters of thanks from adoptors who are thrilled with their pets. In variably, these letters include pictures of dogs and cats who are clearly happy and well loved. It's a lot of work, but we really are making a difference!

Randy, President of Adopt-A-Pet, has demonstrated a true love for the disadvantaged animals that come under her care. Her no-kill policy and extensive use of temporary foster home volunteers see to it that all her charges get the best shot at finding their "forever home".

I have had a working relationship, as a dog trainer, with Adopt-A-Pet for almost 5 years. I am honored to receive requests for training assistance for behavior issues and make them adoptable. All of the people in this organization are VERY dedicated and professional in their endeavor to place animals into forever homes.

Adopt-a-Pet is a great all-volunteer organization. AAP's volunteers are very forthcoming and focused on making successful matches with animals and adopters. I adopted my dog from AAP ten years ago, and he has been such an amazing family member ever since.

My wife and I offer our house as a foster home to cats and dogs in need for Adopt-A-Pet. By doing our small part and hosting an animal in our home until it is adopted, we keep that animal out of a cage in a pound, or from even being euthanized. These animals only wish to be loved and offer their love in return. Adopt-A-Pet provided us with toys, leashes, food and bedding. All we need to do is offer our time and love for animals.

This organization is made up of people that are willing to take cats and/or dogs into their homes until such time their forever homes can be found. As a volunteer, my role has been to facilitate funding the forever homes for these animals. It is very rewarding when a match is found for a family and an animal.

I have been a volunteer with Adopt-A-Pet for 5+ years as a foster home and adoption counselor along with helping in various other capacities. Overall I have found the work helping homeless animals find permanent homes very rewarding. Adopt-A-Pet's volunteers and their president do a great job caring for the animals and finding them responsible, loving homes. Having most of our animals in foster homes thereby getting to know them very well, really helps in finding the right fit for every dog and cat.

I've been a volunteer with Adopt-A-Pet for the past 15 years, having helped out in many capacities. Kudos to our president, Randy B., who took over after her mother, Gloria, who founded AAP in 1981, passed away suddenly in 2003. While always a respected and solvent rescue organization, under Randy's guidance AAP was transformed into a smooth-running "machine" that attracted more volunteers, which translated to more saved animals. Since AAP is a foster home based rescue, all the volunteers work out of their homes, other than for adoption shows or fund raising events. We have a great intranet (internal) website that works as our "office" - the volunteers use it to communicate with each other, allowing us to access databases, documents and discussions, as well as stay current on the details and activity of each animal. AAP was also instrumental in achieving something almost unheard of, but hopefully trendsetting: Partnering with an independent pet store. Wilmette Pet Center now only features AAP orphans available for adoption in the store...thanks to Dave, WPC's big-hearted owner who is so glad to be promoting adoptions. Our whole AAP family is committed to placing its orphans in permanent, safe and loving homes. Our great foster families, who are the lifeblood of AAP, allow us to continue in that mission. I am so proud to be part of the Adopt-A-Pet team, to work with such great volunteers, and to be instrumental in giving homeless animals another chance at a quality life. And thanks to the veterinarians in AAP's network who understand their role and make it possible for us to use their services.

This is a great organization. Volunteers greatly care for the animals brought in. Aside from care given, there is truly an appreciation and intentional process on how each pet is taken care of, rehabilitated if needed, made available for adoption and goes to a proper home. It's quite amazing. And satisfying.

I have donated to and adopted from Adopt A Pet for multiple years now. I find the volunteers very friendly and helpful. I have found other rescues difficult and judgemental, but have not had that experience with Adopt A Pet. I really enjoy the picutures with Santa at the holidays. They are patient and do a really nice job with my difficult dogs. It may be a little disorganized at times, but knowing how my dogs can be, I completely understand. I highly recommend working with Adopt A Pet and from talking to the volunteers, when my life slows down, I will probably volunteer for them also.

Adopt-A-Pet has a fantastic group of volunteers that truly care about each individual animal's welfare. They go above and beyond to ensure that every dog or cat gets the best of care while waiting for its forever home. They ensure that the animals are all placed in suitable, loving homes. As their byline says . . . Creating Families 4 Paws at a Time . . . it's a wonderful feeling to be part of a group that truly makes a difference in each of these lucky animals' lives, many of which wouldn't have a life at all were it not for the second chance given by Adopt-A-Pet.
