I have been a monthly donor for more than 6 years. I have also held several fund raisers at work. The positive messages ABME delivers are perfect for team building. They are especially talented at adapting and growing as the needs of the communities they serve change. AMBE keeps me informed and engaged ever step of their journey. As a consumer I have purchased a minimum of 10 dresses from The Closet over the past 4 years. My experience was a very positive one. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in finding the perfect dress for the occasion - homecoming, prom, formal events, etc…

As an employee now of The Closet, my role is to provide a positive self image in ALL females as they come in to find a dress for their special occasion. I love working with the teen girls in the Emerge 360 program at the store.
I have a Mentor with A Beautiful Me for five years. I believe in the program and I have seen with my own eyes how girl's self-confidence and self-esteem grow. They grow up to be strong young women.
My daughter completed Level 1 of the Emerge 360 program and she learned so many real world business skills. This program boosted her confidence and prepared her for her first real job. As a mother and a grandmother of girls I find the mission of A Beautiful Me to be so relevant and powerful. Empowering our young girls to understand their worth and value gives them the tools they need to pursue any dreams they may have. Teaching teen girls business, people & success skills continues the work and actually helps these kids to achieve those dreams. I have personally met many of the girls when shopping in the store and in the community and am always impressed with their poise and many talents.

I am a former board member and current donor. This nonprofit is well-managed and has positively impacted youth and their families for well over a decade. They partner with schools, girl scout troops, youth, and community groups to bring workshops to 5th grade girls on self-esteem. They are well-connected and are a positive force in their community.
This is a unique organization fighting the roadblocks women often face at the source: our own confidence in our abilities. It reaches girls before the rest of the world does through it's 5th grade workshops and teen programs to empower girls and teens to believe in their ability to do great things. Their outcomes are incredible and long lasting and I do not know of another program like it.
This has been an amazing experience for my teenage daughter. She has blossomed in confidence. The experience that she has gained through this program has really prepared her for a future where she can show her unlimited potential. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate this program.

I have had an opportunity to see how much this program has helped so many girls! It’s wonderful to see the girls thriving and becoming strong young women.
When I was in junior high, I hated everything about myself. I remember going to lunch and seeing a woman going around and handing out bookmarks or something with affirmations on it. That woman happened to be Karen Palka, the founder of A Beautiful Me. Once I read the affirmations, I was intrigued. I asked my friend, who happened to have already done a workshop, what this program was. She told me that it was a program that helped her love herself for who she is. After finding out that I too could learn to love myself again, I got up from my lunch table, walked over to Karen and grabbed an application. That afternoon, I ran home, shouting, “Mom! I found the solution to my problems!” Not even an hour later, my mother and I finished filling out the paper to join the workshop.
The next day, I went to school and dropped the paper off at the front office. From that moment forward, I became one of the many young girls that A Beautiful Me has helped.
As I sit and write all of this, I am now 21 years old and still volunteering with and supporting A Beautiful Me.
Every woman, no matter what their age is, can benefit from A Beautiful Me. They have helped me to not only love myself, but to become a leader. A Beautiful Me is the reason I get up every morning and tell myself 5 affirmations in the mirror.

I am a donor, past board member (7 years), program facilitator, past volunteer coordinator, Jill-of-all-trades operations support...I give back to A Beautiful Me (ABMe) in many ways because my cup becomes filled with knowing the impact of giving women of all ages the opportunity to examine their inner beauty. You can watch this change in just four 2-hour workshop sessions and with teens-in-training at The Closet by ABMe! Our program is fun, interactive, relatable and memorable. We often hear, I wish there was a program like this when I was growing up. It's never too late to embrace your inner beauty and ABMe welcomes the opportunity for you to join in many ways!
My passion is serving children and youth. I got my college degree in Children's Ministry, and have volunteered with many churches and non-profits in this field. Before my daughter was born, I substitute taught PreK-12th grade in my community. When I was ready to return to work, I started a position mentoring teens with A Beautiful Me's retail enterprise, The Closet by A Beautiful Me. It has been such an incredible opportunity to influence the teens in our community and to engage with beautiful women of all ages. Every person who works for or volunteers with ABMe is passionate about serving their community and having fun while doing so!
ABMe, in a nutshell, is a bundle of energy and encouragement that is making a difference with girls of all ages, showing them their true worth.
My first experience with ABMe was as an attendee at their Signature Fundraiser in 2015. Their mission of improving self esteem in women and girls resonated with me so deeply that I began volunteering for the organization. Having nieces who have attended the after school workshops and business trainings, I could see the impact that they were having. Now as a Board member, I am appreciating how well the organization is run. I highly recommend parents, aunts and uncles to get their girls/nieces involved in the organization! You will be amazed at how their confidence grows!
I have been honored to serve on A Beautiful Me's board for over 2 years and in that short time have watched the organization grow in its outreach and impact on the lives of many young girls. A Beautiful Me's workshops, activities and events help these young girls build their confidence, increase their self-esteem and realize they are loved.
I knew this non-profit was different from my first encounter with one of our workshop coordinators. The love and passion for our cause is evident from the staff, volunteers, and board of directors. I have been involved with A Beautiful Me for over two years as a workshop facilitator at our local elementary schools. I am so impressed with the curriculum and exercises that take place in the four-week program. These young ladies really respond to the content and so many discussions about self-esteem and confidence. When I run into the girls in the community, they still remember what they learned. The founder and CEO of A Beautiful Me is committed and relentless to reach more young ladies.
A Beautiful Me helped my grandaughter come out of her shyness shell. She was an 'Affirmation Girl' at the Annual A Beautiful Me Fashion Show (after she took the seminar) and she was so CONFIDENT. My buttons were popping--She had a WONDERFUL time. Getting involved with A Beautiful Me has helped my granddaughter SERVE in new areas in her life. Service builds self esteem. A Beautiful Me offers many opportunities to girls and young women and CHANGES their lives for GOOD.
I work with “A Beautiful Me” as a volunteer. Specifically, I brought an idea for a wedding-themed fundraising run/walk to Karen (the charity’s founder) to help benefit her programs, which teach girls to recognize their inherent worth and value. Karen, and a team of talented ladies, put on a wonderful community event that raised money to provide scholarships for program participants.
I volunteer for “A Beautiful Me” because I fully support its mission, but also because of how well Karen runs the non-profit. She is organized, dependable, and successful in achieving her organizational mission. She also employs a small staff of amazing women who help
transform the non-profit’s vision into reality.
We volunteers know that when we contribute our valuable time to “A Beautiful Me,” that we are making a real difference in the lives of program participants. From training girls in business principles and philanthropy, to helping them build their self-esteem, “A Beautiful Me” helps create future female leaders and women who know that they matter, and who know that they truly can make the world a better place.

I am a new board member for A Beautiful Me. I am blown away by the work that is done by not only the Board but also the nonprofit as a whole. The thoroughness and attention to detail is unmatched. Other nonprofits could learn so much from this group. I am so excited to learn more and become more involved in A Beautiful Me’s workshops and other events.
I have been volunteering with A Beautiful Me for just over a year. As a mother of a daughter who struggled with self esteem I am so excited to work with this group. Everything thing they do has such positive energy. I would like for them to be able to reach every young girl.
A Beautiful Me workshops have had a big impact on young girls. I have seen first hand the increase in self-love and confidence among girls course by course as they learn more about inner beauty.
ABMe is a wonderful program. I know this first hand. I have been volunteering for this organization for several years. I so enjoy working with the girls in the 4 week 2 hour workshop at the schools. To watch these young girls develop their confidence and mainly gain self-respect is a joy. My favorite part is when we discuss magazine ads and how the models images are photoshopped and manipulated to sell their products. The girls shoulders rise, knowing that they really don’t look that way. The girls learn in the workshops to use their I words to communicate and learn to journal their thoughts. They also express their dreams and goals by making dream boards. I’m proud to be a part of this organization.

And our amazing Annual Avant HaIr Show fundraiser. Unfortunately, we will not be holding the event this year with Covid, look for it in 2021.
A Beautiful Me is a wonderful nonprofit that is suppose to help young women with self esteem, not only does it do that it does so much more. As a volunteer with A Beautiful Me I’ve met some amazing women that have help mold me into a better person.Not only has it help me realize that there’s so much out there but it’s also help me realize that you can put your mind to any creative task and be able to make it bigger then you ever could imagine.
A Beautiful Me shares a message of self-esteem, value & significance for ALL women, but especially young girls who are forming life-long ideologies regarding their worth. It is a message that transcends culture, socioeconomic status and language - and I've personally witnessed the positive impact this program has had on young girls here in Michigan, as well as globally, in Guatemala. Amazing program with lasting value!
