Very devoted and experienced team giving their whole lives for these beautiful draft horses. Every saved horse is instantly cared for and dearly loved.
This is a fantastic organisation. Although I live in Australia I follow their social media page and it is clear that they do an excellent job of rescuing and rehabilitating draft horses. Their love and care for these horses is evident in all that they do and their social media provides a informative platform for educating us about the need for these horses to be rescued, what is involved in their care and the positive outcomes they achieve. I support them whenever I can.
I know my donated money is honestly and earnestly spent because I can see it in action everyday with multiple daily pictures and updates.
My husband and I have formally adopted 2 Belgians from 1 Horse At A Time Draft Horse Rescue and are currently fostering two new intakes of 1 H@ATDHR. I am a retired Veterinary tech and I have experience working with animal rescues, both good and bad. I can affirm that you will not find a more dedicated and caring organization to support. 1 Horse At A Time Draft Horse Rescue has done amazing work in the draft horse world, saving the horses that have no hope. We adopted our Belgian, Lilah, from 1 Horse At A Time several years ago. Lilah found herself being flipped from auction to auction by horse traders all while being totally blind. No one wanted her. No one would save her. But 1 Horse stepped up when no one else would. They helped Lilah recover from her ordeal, and we adopted her as soon as possible. We still lean on 1 Horse when I have questions about Lilah's healthcare, or anything else, 1 Horse is ALWAYS there for us.
We adopted another Belgian, Hank, nearly 2 years ago. Hank was ataxic and stumbling at auction, and no one would buy him. He too, was flipped several times before 1 Horse saved him from the slaughter pipeline. 1 Horse gave Hank a chance at life. His initial vet visit revealed he had an active EPM infection which was the cause of his wobbly walk. 1 Horse gave Hank every chance at recovery. Unfortunately, despite the best health care, Hank was unable to overcome the EPM infection but lived an amazing year on our ranch being loved and spoiled. 1 Horse stood by us and supported us every step of the way from the 1st day Hank walked off the trailer to the last day of Hanks life. There are not enough words to express how incredible this rescue is to not only their horses, but to the people that adopt them from the first day of adoption to the last day of life, 1 Horse will be there for you and your horse.
1Horse at a Time Draft Horse Rescue doesn't have multiple people running it nor does it have daily volunteers, 1haat has Jasmin!!! One person around the clock rain, snow or shine, and she has the strength and fortitude to walk her talk and change life, give life to many many forgotten, cast-away, injured, dejected, scared, sometimes emotionally scarred and almost lifeless draft horses.
She brings every horse to her world where they all learn her voice, her touch. They come out of their shells as she earns their trust...because she is there with them every day. Occasionally a few people come and volunteer time and enjoy the peace of the place while they help Jasmin cleaning water tanks or offering time to share their healing modalities on some of the horses or simply brushing out the "bigs" feeling their breath as they work with them showing the horses that humans can be good.
I've been there, visited with Jasmin, walked with the horses, photographed them and been blown away by all she has created for the love of the horse!
She has made this non-profit accessible to anyone that wishes to visit, she'll interrupt her busy day to show them around and no one feels rushed or that they are a bother. She posts pictures and stories every day on social media to keep the world of horse lovers informed on everything going on there...the good, the bad, the daily challenges, the sad, the wins, the losses...we know them all along with her to celebrate or cry, to give donations or an emotional boost and she again takes the time to share her thanks. The financial records are open to all if anyone has questions on the always present feed bills, vet bills, fuel, bedding, hoof care, training...the list goes on and how donations are spent...it's all there. Not only the horses have gained her trust...people have gained her trust as well.
1Horse At A Time is worthy.
I will do my story in dutch.
Jasmine and the people at 1 Horse @ A Time are amazing! I’ve been following the journey of many rescued horses and they always seem to put the wellbeing of the animal first. I have donated money as well as items in need , they always are appreciated and noticed. The dedication and hard work that’s put into each animals health and emotional needs is amazing, they work tirelessly for these gentle giant breeds…they are transparent with the non profit donations, they truly are top notch!
I've been following this rescue for a few years. I've donated money and things they need for the horses they rescue. Jasmin and her associates are caring, empathetic, thoughtful, unstoppable, kind, loving...I can go on and on. The amount of love and care they put into these abused gentle giants is beyond measure, they are doing the work of God. They should be noticed and called out for the tireless work they do. I don't know where Jasmin finds all the energy to accomplish what she does in one days time, but it's a labor of love for her. This world need more people like Jasmin!
I had volunteered at a California horse rescue for 20 years before it transferred out of state and 1H@TDH Rescue caught my attention. Have been following them for some time, checking daily for news and information on their horses. They are a very thoughtful, caring, and organized organization. Their horses seem well taken care of and loved and many brought back to health from horrible circumstances and conditions. I wish I could do more to support this rescue!
This non-profit organization is constantly looking out for opportunities to rescue and rehabilitate those horses that find themselves in need. They keep these horses in the forefront, raising awareness of the plight of these abused and misused horses. 1 Horse is informative and transparent about the day-to-day operation and what goes on behind the scenes.
A truly sincere, selfless and beautiful rescue with no other goal that to save lives and restore health What all rescue should be about —-

I 100 percent believe in and respect this rescue - I have had experience with the dark side of rescue and it such a truly beautiful thing to see someone who starts everyday with an open giving heart and looks for the animals in need and then does what is needed. Rescue is not about ego, status or money- rescue is about selfless ,tireless and endless serving those in need .When you come across an organization who does that, you want to praise them.
I live every day through this organization. I absolutely support all of their efforts to help horses live out their lives in peace and plenty of loving care. One of our horses was short by a teenager 'for fun' several years ago. This organization has helped our family more than they know. Each and every day, there are many posts with updates and new introductions, they are ALWAYS busy! Taking the time out every few hours to keep us all up to date is great warning. My husband and I are planning to visit the rescue when we retire in a few years, and we can't wait!
I have been following this nonprofit for several months. They work tirelessly saving and taking care of these horses. They want nothing but the best for them and love them unconditionally. They provide excellent vet care as well as many other wellness services. Jasmin and her team have created a safe haven for these drafts. They are to be commended for their efforts!
I never even knew the painful end of Amish and other draft horses sent to kill pens for meat until 1 Horse At A Time Draft Horse Rescue. I used to think it was great that the Amish used horses as they were intended. What a fool I was. And it's not just the Amish, it's countless others that take beautiful creatures that depend on us for care and then they get harmed beyond belief and sold for pennies. Honestly, it may be a way to end the pain they feel. But if I can help these people safe those beautiful horses and try to rehabilitate them and adopt them out, I'll send every dollar I can. My husband fears the day I want to adopt, I pray for it. Meanwhile, I'll do fundraisers, birthday drives and whatever else I can to help these wonderful people.
They are absolutely great. They care deeply about the horses. I adopted a Belgian, the experence was awesome. He was well cared for by them. They are simply the best!!
I look for their posts every day. I do not know a great deal about horses, but I have learned from this site. I had a warmblood for the last years of his life. Alex was 17.5 hands, 18+ years-old, loved apricots and brightened my heart. I follow simply because this is real, beautiful, compassionate and something I feel part of.
Jasmin and her crew not only rescue at risk draft horses from Montana but she reaches out to her fellow horse lovers as far away as Texas to ensure no draft that is at risk is left behind. She provides not only unconditional love to these animals but makes sure all their needs are met, food, chiropractic, holistic, veterinarian and farrier. And if that isn't enough she keeps all of her followers up to date through social media on all their progress. She is one in a million!!
This is a great draft horse rescue; which takes wonderful care of their horses. I support them whenever I can afford to.
One Horse at a Time draft horse rescue is extremely transparent with how the funds raised go toward rescue and care of these gentle giants. With many horses receiving critical medical care and training and ultimately a forever home. It’s truly a grass roots effort with funds raised largely by those that follow along online and get to see their donations at work, saving lives. I highly recommend you donate and follow along.
1 horse at a time is the REAL deal! Jasmins heart is always in the right place taking care of the horses she saves! I live in Texas and I have fostered 18horses for her in the past 2 1/2 years and I can not say enough about the care she gives them without ever meeting them! She is very honest and always has the horses first in mind. I have personally seen the way she changes the lives of people as well as the horses by placing them together through her adoption process. Jasmin works all day long in the rain, snow, heat taking care of the souls she made that promise to. Her passion and love for the horses is such an inspiration….if only there were more people like her that stands up for the horses that find themselves in need of help!
I find it hard to write this as I can only imagine what these people go through. Horses are part of who I am and to see the relentless work that gets done in rescuing them brings me often to tears. Words fail me when I see the condition of some of the rescues and I don’t know how they can carry on at times but they do.
I recently had the opportunity to visit 1 Horse at a Time Draft Horse Rescue in Corvallis, Montana. I was amazed at the job that Jasmin and her team of volunteers do for these discarded draft horses. So many of these beautiful creatures have never know love or kindness, Jasmin not only shows them that some humans can be good, she nurses them back to health with good food and lots of love and patience. When and if I am in a position to adopt one of these beautiful horses, I will be turning to 1 HAAT for not only a rescue horse, but advice and support!! Go Team 1HAAT!!
I love watching 1 Horse at a Time Draft Rescue. It’s hard to see the condition the horses come in with but so satisfying to watch them improve both physically and mentally. They are a very caring and giving rescue and work really hard to provide better futures for these noble animals. I highly recommend watching and supporting this rescue
I was able to visit the rescue during my trip from Virginia to Montana. She’s extremely dedicated to the horses. The love and knowledge she has for all the drafts that come through her place radiates by the prodcedures/measures she takes to help each of them.
1 Horse At A Time Draft Rescue, Inc. is a professional nonprofit. They are transparent in their actions, and policies. We are fortunate that they take care of the lost, leftover, elderly, sick and k*ll pen draft horses. It is a big financial committment, and they do a fantastic job.
I have followed them for a short time and the lady ce that they put into each and every horse is amazing.
Hands down the best rescue I have seen.
I have been following this non-profit for over a year now. It is so heartwarming to see the love and determination to provide the best outcome for these amazing draft horses. Several are seniors or horses with a variety of health issues, but 1 Horse at a Time provides what each individual horses needs.
1 Horse At A Time Draft Horse Rescue, Inc. does amazing work, not only saving giant draft horses from abuse and certain death, but also rehabilitating them so they may live their remaining months and years in safe and protected environments. In addition, they also educate their followers as well as the general public on what often happens to these gentle giants when they reach the end of their usefulness to their owners. They are often auctioned into kill pens and other inhumane situations as their owners attempt to make a final profit on these gentle giants with no thought to the cruelty they will be forced to endure.
I follow this from the UK, I often wake up to heart rending stories of these beautiful, but ill-treated beasts. Many a morning my heart feels like breaking, but then you read about the success stories, and how once neglected and defeated horses learn to love and trust again. The passion and compassion shown is amazing as these neglected, care-worn animals, start to live, to live well and to be loved, and to be given whatever medical treatment they need. If I ever visit the states again I'm going to make a point of stopping off here and seeing this sanctuary.
I am local to this draft horse rescue and volunteer at the ranch. Jasmin rescues some pretty sick and emaciated horses from auction and nurses them back to their beautiful selves. The transformation of these gentle giants is truly a miracle. This is the best rescue ever and I love being so close to it
I stumbled upon their page and researched and found 1Horse At A Time Draft Horse Rescue,Inc., to be legitimately who they say they are. I follow their page religiously now because I find Hope in others and in what they do for horses gives me a full heart, So it's a win WIN ! I make small donations when I m able, it's not much but every little bit helps I say.
God Bless Jasmine and her many helpers for being the hope all horses pray for.
Thank you for relentlessly giving them a voice and the love and care that all horses deserve.

1 Horse At A Time Draft Horse Rescue nonprofit is my favorite. Everything about it is very transparent with stories of each horse and pictures. The treatments for rescue horses are listed on frequent Facebook posts, and the horses get lots of TLC. Jasmin, who runs this rescue is calm with the often very frightened horses , and she does not push any horse not ready for human touch. I'm particularly amazed at her gentle treatment of current occupant, Gracie. This horse is very frightened of humans. We can see videos online of Jasmin"s gentle touch and calm voice in working with Gracie. It's remarkable to see her empathy for these often previously mistreated horses.
Horses here have scheduled hoof care and many alternative health treatments such as craniosacral therapy and acupuncture. It's like spa treatment.
