MESOTHELIOMA APPLIED RESEARCH FOUNDATION INC
July 23, 2009

My diagnosis of mesothelioma was a shocker. Trolling the internet for information turned up MARF--a source not only of information but also of hope. Even though I had been to a major cancer center for a second opinion, I had been offered nothing but symptom treatment. MARF showed me the way to one of the few medical centers that actually treat mesothelioma. The staff has been extraordinarily supportive and the organization's work continues to offer hope.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the chat line where patients and caregivers share to an extraordinary degree.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do just what it is doing: provide support and counsel; beat the drums for a ban on asbestos in the USA; keep up the call for research funds into treatment and cure of this disease.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

support, validation, quick response to questions and concerns.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the entire staff -- the medical professional who provides information, the lawyer who works to raise funds, the people who steer advocacy issues, the webdesigner. Everyone.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

fund more research and generate more interest among researchers.

Ways to make it better...

MARF had the money to fund significant research on this disease.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the mysterious reasons why asbestos is not yet banned in this country. Why?

One thing I'd also say is that...

without MARF, I would have had no hope of a future.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
