St. Baldrick's Foundation
July 16, 2009

I have been an oncology nurse since 1981 and have seen many children and adults diagnosed, fight the battle and lose this battle in the end. I have also seen many survive the treatments that they have needed for the CURE but deal with the lasting effects of the treatment that they needed. I have been involved with St Baldrick's for three years and the events offer a fun method to increase awareness for the number killer of children and it allows family members the opportunity to honor their child who has been down the road known as childhood cancer. Research done at one institution can benefit all children with cancer but this past year the hospital that I work at was one of the hospitals that benefitted from the research money that has been raised.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

A research grant being given to a physician at the hospital that I work at and have seen the benefits from other hospitals that have completed research. I have also seen the gratitude of the families when they can participate in the event each year.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The organization appears to be well run in my interactions with the foundation so I cannot answer this question.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Helping families honor their child that has died or is currently in treatment. I have also enjoyed meeting others that are interested in this cause.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Every staff member has been supportive and the many volunteers that have helped at our events has been great to work with.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Increase the research dollars needed and hopefully eliminate cancer among our children.

Ways to make it better...

there had been individuals willing to volunteer to help in the event and that more individuals would be willing to make the sacrifice to have their heads shaved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The current economy has affected the ability of others to donate to this foundation. I would love to see more donations submitted to the foundation and to increase the number of individuals willing to be shaved to increase awareness.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
