Lutheran World Relief
January 15, 2010
LWR is known as one of the more effective disaster relief agencies. They have several core strengths:
- professional staff and mission-focus
- long-standing relationships in deployed communities and with other agencies
- partnership with local churches and civic structures
- commitment to work after the initial response
In areas where they are not the "boots on the ground," they do a good job geting money and resources to effective local partners.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
extremely professional, well-organized, non-nonsense, and mission-focused. Their care is best expressed in they way they often seek to "unmet needs" - cracks between other relief efforts.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

NEW JERSEY REGIONAL COALITION
September 30, 2009
The New Jersey Regional Coalition is a statewide community organizing group in NJ. Membership consists principally of religious congregations and judicatories, with some civic groups, non-profit advocacy groups, and labor unions.
The NJ Regional Coalition was the only grassroots organization to successfully promote NJ school funding reform (passed and signed 1/08). The NJ Regional Coalition also successfully waged a three-year campaign to eliminate the outsourcing of affordable housing (a change widely described as "impossible") and reform the state's Fair Housing Act (passed and signed 7/08).
In 9/09, NJRC was a founding sponsor of the Building One America campaign, and national summit on regional opportunity.
