I am a senior at the University of Texas at Austin and last year I studied abroad in Ecuador. As part of my program I had to complete an independent study project during the last month of the semester. For my project, I decided to venture to the Amazon and spend four weeks following spider monkeys. While I was in the Jungle (and falling in love with it) I received an email from my school advisor saying that the Rainforest Partnership was looking for interns. It was a sign! While I was sad to leave the monkeys, anacondas and mysterious night noises behind, I was excited to be able to keep my connection with the Amazon in my own home town. The Rainforest Partnership is an incredible organization with a beautiful desire to save the rainforest. We all know how important the rainforest is, but RP is one of the few organizations in this world willing to actually take on the very difficult challenge of actually doing something about it. In the end, RP is successful because it is run by passionate, intelligent and inspired people who understand what is truly important in this world.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
This is my first experience in the non-profit sector and it has quickly become clear to me how difficult it can be to get by. The Rainforest Partnership is only what it is today because of all the generous people in this world who are willing to devote their time and money to something they really care about. I feel so inspired working with people who are not at RP to get rich fast, but to do their part to help the world in which we all live.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
