Review for The Samfund, Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I was a 2008 recipient of the SamFund. I will forever be grateful not only to them but the many donors that help make what SamFund does happen. I am a single mother of three and was struggling with supporting my family and fighting for my life and realizing that there is a fine line between the fight for life and the right to survive. With all the endless procedures, and surgeries which lead to co-pays and prescriptions and time off work your finances deplete and your stuck with decisions such as, “Do I take this treatment or do I pay the electricity or rent?”, “ Do I fill my prescription or do I buy groceries?”. It’s absolutely horrible to be faced with that and SamFund knows that this is what we struggle with on a daily basis even after the cancer is gone. I am applying again this year in hopes that with the financial help I can start up a business that will in turn allow me to be a donor and an even bigger supporter of an organization that was there for me when I needed them the most.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Knowing that there are people out there who understand the aftermath. That its not just about surviving the disease.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I didnt actually meet anyone but was in close contact with them via email throughout the whole process. They were very kind and supportive.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Help so many others.

Ways to make it better...

I could be a donor too.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Spreading the word and attracting more donors.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I Love you SamFund and all that you do!!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
