Review for Desert Hockey Development, Cave Creek, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Desert Hockey Development, DHD for short, is an Arizona incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit youth outreach organization founded in 2013. We are dedicated to building youth hockey in Arizona and eventually the rest of the Southwest US through providing free ball hockey opportunities.

The sport of hockey is our tool to work with boys and girls aged 4-14 to help them build their fitness, self-esteem, accountability, and teamwork while having a great time. Because hockey is our passion, it’s our tool of choice to emphasize the character of sports, respect, and the spirit of winning (and losing) as much as the technical skills.

We feel the core components of being a well-rounded player have little to do with skill level and much more to do with attitude.

DHD provides opportunities, without any pressure to compete or prior experience, for kids to explore their capabilities by playing a sport that’s a LOT of fun.

Our target demographic is kids that otherwise wouldn’t have many chances to experiment with different sports, especially sports with expensive equipment requirements.

Our clinics are always free, always well attended, and always a lot of fun. We built our presence in Glendale and worked with the city to improve their inline hockey facility and increase its utilization. Now, we’re working to expand our reach throughout Arizona.

Review for Coyotes Booster Club, Scottsdale, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We have had the pleasure of being involved with the Coyotes Booster Club for several years.

Rather than simply being a gathering of Phoenix Coyotes fans, the Booster Club manages to, every year, donate money and other things to organizations and individuals who are in need through member dues, memorobilia auctions, etc.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Our family has been afforded the opportunity to meet players and our hockey experience has been enhanced. The real purpose of the club, however, is to serve the community with targeted donations.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No changes

Role:  Donor & I have been a member for some years.

Review for Barry Goldwater Institute for Public Policy Research, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 1 stars

I am of the opinion that the Goldwater Institute is currently being obtuse and obstructionist in their dealings with the City of Glendale regarding the planned sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to the Hulsizer Group (Arizona Hockey Holdings LLC).

I feel that this organization is abusing the privilege of their bully pulpit and purposefully lengthening the course of events in this matter for their own gain. Their numerous appearances in the Canadian media points this out with great clarity, one must wonder why an organization with the purpose of protecting the US and state constitutions would feel the Canadian press is the correct outlet for their message.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The citizens of Arizona believe that the decisions of the duly elected officials of the City of Glendale are being usurped by the Goldwater Institute and that, by directly contacting potential underwriters of the necessary bonds, the organization may indeed be guilty of tortious interference.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Disband it

Role:  Volunteer & I have repeatedly contacted this organization.
