Friends of Yates
March 24, 2011
I have had the opportunity to work in Friends of Yates for over a year now as a Spanish interpreter and translator. In this time I have had the opportunity to learn about the vital role which this organization has had in this community for many years. The fact that the organization has sought to have someone like me come on board reflects their desire to continously reach out to help people from many different backgrounds, in my case working directly with Spanish-speakers.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
working with clients who have not only benefited from the services we provide but are now in positions to live independent lives and share their experiences with others in order to help them improve their own lives.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
find ways to continue expanding services and getting the word out about this organization. This includes getting the younger generations in our community and beyond, who now from many different ethnic backgrounds, to become more involved in improving their own community.
Volunteer & As a Spanish interpreter and translator, I help to provide services to Spanish-speaking people who would otherwise have difficulty accessing the services offered by Friends of Yates.
