Review for My Mothers Voice, Roseville, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This energetic group brings such passion to their work with teen parents and their babies, and other single moms that it's easy to connect with their mission. They are very solution based, and they keep connected with every parent, baby, and child so that you can see the results. My Mother's Voice gives the necessities so that no baby or mom goes hungry or doesn't have a crib or bed, but they make sure that those being helped are making the changes necessary to be self-sufficient and productive. They mentor and keep student parents in school and on to college and work. It's a joyous effort that keeps the us feeling like family and wanting to give back to others as we all see the success.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the ability to feel really useful, to experience the success of the mission and not just an occasional office worker or a one-time donor. I could actually see and feel that I was making a difference.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all ages, ethnicity, backgrounds, but all enthusiastic and hard-working. There is a genuine sense of love, pride, and joy in this organization. You can't wait to get started again the next morning, and you are always thinking of a new solution to help.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

execute its long range plan which is extraordinary, but still keep to the mission of making significant changes to each life they touch. They could do more and better, but I don't see them ever losing their focus.

Ways to make it better...

they had more infrastructure (more office space), more technology (laptops and additional software) to be more efficient and help more clients.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of funds, office space, and a retail outlet. This keeps them from expanding and opening up some additional supportive programs.

One thing I'd also say is that...

if more people could get involved with My Mother's Voice, and give if they can't geographically be there, we could spread to begin improving the family, education, and jobs while lowering crime, addiction, and abuse.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & I made sure that teen moms had adequate necessities to care for themselves and their babies. I also helped them with their school assignments so that they didn't fall behind.
