The Trevor Project, Inc.
June 26, 2009

The Trevor Project is phenomenal! Their staff is such a team that not only cares about the organizations mission to the T but each other and work so well together. I have participated as a guest performer with their staff for their popular varitey show fundraisers, sold out many nights!!! Additionally, I am so proud of Erin English and her dedication to curriculum and program development over the course of this year for the Youth Outreach/Student Mentor program. Her note worthy experience and hard work will be effecting lives across the nation with person to person training for dealing effectively with gay/lesbian issues and targeting the youth to stand up and help one another locally. She is an asset to the organization, and in turn the organization is a tremendous asset to the next generation, leading leaders of human rights and individuals who will lift up their own communities and provide hope for those who live in fear of being who they are. The Trevor Project operates at multiple levels of outreach, from preventive education to traumatic care for affected youth which makes them such a dynamic organization at their core. I hope that Trevor sticks around to see many generations through and continue to stick it to inequality. They definitely are in need of such official recognition, may they win!!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

it's ways to pull the immediate Los Angeles community together to celebrate our differences and together with the community look to directly support Trevor's daily operations.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find ways to hire more full time staff for development and implementation of such extension programs that are so crucial to the preventative education of gay/lesbian teen suicide.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the staffs true enthusiasm about their results, taking calls, making time to be there, helping one another out as co-workers and as friends, working together to improve their already great ways weekly and seeking out new ways to reach the youth.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

so friendly, welcoming, cheerful, and serious. They love what they do and make no hesitations about sacrificing a bit to make the organization tick.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach every gay/lesbian teen and assure them they have a future worth living for!

Ways to make it better...

Prop 8 hadn't passed and the protest wasn't scheduled for the same night of one of Trevor's fund raising events!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of acknowledgment for need of more full time staff and/or the allocation of funds. As always this is a plague in the non-profit world!

One thing I'd also say is that...

I always have so much fun tagging along on Trevor staff's burrito lunch Wednesday and always look forward to performing with them during their popular fund raising events, they really are a great team!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
