With so many worthy charities, it's difficult to decide which to support. Alzheimers is such a miserable disease. It takes away our "humanness". It places an incredible burden on the family, the health care system and the nation. And the numbers are rising fast.
Ami Simms with her Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative has brought awareness and raised research funds not by just asking for money, but by using an art form that we love to share.
I don't work in a research lab, or medical field to help find the cure, but I can add my stitches to an image I create to raise money for such a worthy effort. Thanks Ami, and thanks to all the contributors of the AAQI!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
When I made my quilt it was in memory of my Mom and Grandma who both had Alzheimers. To see it hanging with the other quilts was wonderful. When I've helped guide visitors to the exhibit, it's been good to see their growing awareness and desire to help eradicate the disease.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Ami has been tireless at making this effort work. No changes are needed.
