Sharon Arts Center
January 21, 2011
Whenever I need inspiration, I visit the Sharon Arts Gallery in downtown Peterborough. It's a magic place that's free and open to the public. There's a new show opening every two months, and I wish everyone could spend an hour there to feel recharged. I also find fantastic gifts at their shop, mostly made by regional artists and craftspeople. The classes at the SAC school in Sharon welcome students of all ages, and many of the teachers are amazing professional artists. My favorite classes are in ceramics, but there's something for everyone.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
..increasing understanding of art in the lives of people with visual impairment. SACco-sponsored a "Dinner in the Dark" where we could wear blindfolds or impairment glasses to explore an art exhibit, and enjoy a fund-raising dinner.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would like to see more community groups holding their meetings and functions at the Gallery or School. I would also like to see closer connections between the School and Gallery.
Board Member & I got brave enough to put my pots in a student show.
