My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Beginnings For Parents Of Hearing Impaired Children, Inc., Raleigh, NC, USA
Working as an itinerant teacher of deaf children learning to listen and speak in the public schools, I saw numerous families struggle to be advocates for their children. I saw parents struggle with policy and law. The parent advocates at Beginnings were always prepared to play a big role in educating those parents and giving them the tools they need to provide the best education possible for their children. The Beginnings website is also an amazing educational resource available for families and professionals about the topic of hearing loss and all communication options.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
watching the parents of my students be strong and effective advocates for their children when dealing with principals and special education directors in difficult IEP situations.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
expand it to more states.
