LORD S PANTRY OF DOWNINGTOWN
November 30, 2010
For two years I have been a regular volunteer with the Lord's Pantry. It has been highly fulfilling for me on a personal level. I have seen first hand the lengths to which members of the organization will go to provide nourishing food and support to clients who, despite living in the most affluent county in the state, would otherwise go hungry. Not only are clients accorded the dignity of choosing from a variety of healthy foods and fresh produce, but they are given assistance with food delivery and personal transportation when needed.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
expressions of overwhelming gratitude by clients physically unable to come in when I bring them a half dozen bags of food they have requested.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
not make any substantive ones. The fact that one sees the same volunteers coming back week after week and month after month speaks to the very upbeat working environment and the very rewarding nature of this work.
Volunteer & Sort food, make pickups and deliveries, put furniture together, paint bathrooms, -whatever is needed that I can do.
