Review for Handicap Village Dba Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, IA, USA
When I was growing up there was a Widow who lived next door to to us who had a son with mental illness. During the summer months she would put him outside on a chair and he would do nothing but twist and turn a little belt he held in his hands. I had to baby sit (or adult sit as he was a young man) and even in the house he would do very little but twist that belt. As time passed, the Mother could not care for Willard any longer and she placed him at Opportunity Village. I did not see him for a couple of years and then one day, when I was at the Village on business, I saw Willard and could not believe the transformation. The man who could do nothing but twist that belt was helping in the Kitchen. After that it seemed like everytime I saw him he was doing more and seemed so proud. This man now had a real life.
