Speech Communications Assistance By Telephone Inc
October 4, 2010

In assisting Dr. Bob Segalman, Ph.D., I learned of the existence of Speech Communication Assistance By Telephone, Inc. (SCT) and the Speech-to-Speech (STS) service. I was particularly pleased with the successful effort to persuade the FCC to continue its STS outreach funding. This allowed providers to experiment with various outreach methods to find better ways to identify and educate potential STS users. SCT fundraising efforts aid in educating more people about STS and raises awareness of telephone access for people with speech disabilities.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Through assisting Dr. Segalman, I have seen how hard he works to make sure the FCC continues outreach funding so that more people with speech disabilities can learn of and use STS.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Perhaps possibly approach a celebrity with a speech disability to help promote SCT and STS to gather more support of the work they do.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

knowing that certain providers are working to adequately train users in how to use the services.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

hard working and diligent in getting the word out about SCT and STS.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help people with speech disabilities worldwide to have telephone access.

Ways to make it better...

I were in need of this service.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

fundraising. Needing to get the word out to more members of the general public who might have a loved one in need of assistance.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Dr. Segalman works tirelessly to make sure that both SCT and STS succeed and that he will have some young blood willing to take over the reigns so he can actually retire from his retirement.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
