Review for The Light of Truth Center, Inc., Baltimore, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Light of Truth Center changes lives for women who thought they had no way out. By loving them, encouraging them, being tough on them and guiding them, The Light of Truth Centers provides women in recovery the opportunity to start choosing a new and different way to live their lives. The Light of Truth is a remarkable resource for our community.

Review for MARYLAND WOMENS HERITAGE CENTER AND MUSEUM INC, Baltimore, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

What a treasure to have the Maryland Women's Heritage Center as a part of our community - sharing the stories about real women making real differences and making sure that young women have a vision as to what they can bring to the world. My radio show in Baltimore, WomanTalk Live, is proud to be a partner with the Maryland Women's Heritage Center to ensure that the stories of women from the past, present and future are honored and shared.

Review for MARYLAND WOMENS HERITAGE CENTER AND MUSEUM INC, Baltimore, MD, USA

I've been involved with the Maryland Women's Heritage Center for the past 4 years. I have a local talk radio show in Baltimore and the MWHC supplies me with "women in history tidbits" for me to use on the show, in my weekly newsletter and in my social media campaigns. Getting the word out about the women who came before us, their accomplishments, and the roads they paved for us is important to me and the MWHC is committed to telling the story of women and keeping their stories alive. What an incredible service they provide for our state.

Role:  General Member of the Public & I participate in community events with the Center and work on joint projects with them.

I was so excited about the Maryland Women's Heritage Center from the moment I first heard about it. It's no secret that notable women in history have not occupied a lot of time in our educational process - and, this is something the MWHC wants to change. And, not only are they highlighting the famous women - I love the fact that they are recognizing the "unsung heroines" - the women that have made a difference that many people never hear about. One of the things that I do on my radio show, WomanTalk Live, is recognize a young woman (jr or sr in high school in Maryland) each year who is making a big difference in her community and has a vision for making a difference in the future. The MWHC has recognized the value of these young women, also, and features their photos, their winning essays and their bios, on the MWHC website and also at the museum center in the Unsung Heroine section. All in all, I am thrilled to be able to support this organization and the important work it is doing, and I am so proud to say that Maryland has the first center of its kind in the nation with the Maryland Women's Heritage Center.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working with other passionate women who see the vision and helping spread the word.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

fabulous, passionate and smart.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

one of the most important educational venues in the state of Maryland.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time personally to experience everything they offer.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

raising awareness and funds for continued expansion.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I look forward to continuing to work with the Center...it ROCKS!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

Role:  Volunteer & I serve on the Marketing Committe for the MWHC. In addition, each week on my radio show, WomanTalk Live on Talkradio 680 WCBM in Baltimore, I have a "Women in History" quiz with the historical tidbits provided by the MWHC.
